Domaine Du Granit

Terroir de Granit St. Joseph Syrah 2019

Deep and feral. Blood and granite all over the nose, along with cracked black peppercorns and dry aged beef. Pretty large-framed for a Saint Joe on the palate. Savory, iron and granite. Still some tannin to shed. I’d thought this would be further along than it is, but it’s got promises to keep and miles to go before it sleeps. — 2 months ago

@Tegan Marriott - His name is Bandol. All my dogs since ‘83 have been named after wine. Nebbiolo, PN, Zinny, and now Bandol. He’s a rescue. The DNA report says he’s 31% Dachshund, 25% Pit Bull, and a bunch of other stuff. He’s a sweetie!

Cave de Tain l'Hermitage

Esprit de Granit St. Joseph Syrah 2020

Yet another exemplary wine from this co-op. Bloody and irony on the nose, some nice fruit underneath the primal elements. Very linear on the palate, medium body but great intensity of savory flavors. So soft and enveloping but without excess weight. Very nice acids. — 7 months ago

Excellent, the Alsatian co-ops also produce really fine QPR wines if you ever find them in the U.S.

Château de Chenas

Coeur de Granit Moulin-à-Vent Gamay

Pure fruit- strawberry/cherry, some dusty tannins and a hint of smokiness makes this quite nice. — 4 years ago

Granit 30 Cornas Syrah 2019

Musk, Holly berries and bramble, pine needles, iron, velvet, driftwood, hints of coffee and bold red meat. There’s berries in there, red, lush, ripe and dark, but it’s so well integrated into the perfume (and it is perfume) that it’s impossible to separate them. Like a thin spread of preserves and dank basement. Palate has that lean nature of Syrah, between medium and light bodied, tannins present, but molded well into the palate, not ostentatious. Lush, silky dark red and black fruits roll forth, along with some charcoal, graphite, blood, and iron. — 3 months ago

Granit Mineral Selection Monção e Melgaço Alvarinho 2024

So much typicity. Lime blossom, white peach, mineral water. Nearly effervescent crispness. A wonderful nightcap after a gorgeous meal at Atrevo in Porto. — 3 months ago

Terre de Granit St. Joseph Syrah 2009

Vintage 2009 | Opaque colour. Closed smell at first. Some buttermilk tones. With air also plums, cherries, leather. And than as if the heaven opens: rondeur, silk, velvet mouth feeling, also distinguished. My gosh, this is good. — 5 months ago

Bing cherry, black raspberries, cranberries, chalky minerals lending to a nice long finish. WE gave this a 94! Probably in time, delicious! — 8 months ago
