Yum. Decanted, notes from 1.5 hrs open. Lovely Chambolle: black raspberry, cocoa powder, game, lovely perfume and purity of fruit. On the palate, still a little tight, but fantastic acidity, black raspberry, black pepper, cocoa powder, wild strawberry tang, some brambles. A lovely btl of wine that drinks well young, and seems well-structured to age. — 13 days ago

Pink ruby color. Medium plus tears. Spice on the nose with mature red fruit and earth. On the palate, cherry, leather, pleasantly off dry with balanced tannins. Well balanced enough to drink by itself with enough backbone to stand up to rich foods. Excellent. — 8 days ago

"En la Rue de Vergy" Morey-Saint-Denis Pinot Noir 2012

This bottle was a great learning experience. Purity is the theme here. The wine was closed aromatically on opening but explosive in the mouth; a fireworks show with a finish that rang on and evolved endlessly as it went down. By day 2 and 3 the wine was completely muted all around with a dense lingering minerality without the explosive energy. Vineyard with no top soil and limestone bedrock all the way to the surface. Firstly most clear experience I’ve had to wonder if this is ‘should be’ a Chardonnay vineyard rather than Pinot. Regardless I’ll take this for what it was as when it was cracking it was cracking and I have a feeling this wine could go quite a while integrating all that complexity. Will not likely touch another for a few more years no doubt and be on the hunt for older vintages and different producers. — 19 days ago

Yum. Lovely nose with intense lemon and stone, soft vanilla and a touch of toast. On the palate, absolutely stunning acidity, so very 14...then sweet meyer lemon, loads of wet stone minerality, and a nice richness to complement. Finish shows the acidity with a bit of tartness, but with our dinner this was fantastic. — a month ago
