Bonnes Mares Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2011

Outstanding clarity bright red fruits , exotic spices and razor sharp acidity. Young but drinking well now. This is what makes Burgundy so sexy! — 14 days ago

Villero di Castiglione Falletto Barolo Nebbiolo 1988

Amber tawny color, dark but translucent. Sweet fruit nose. Notes of plum, sour cherries, some camphor, roses and a little molasses. Nice and smooth in the mouth. Fruit is faded but holding on. A bit dry on the finish. Pared well with lasagna. — 21 days ago

Nebbiolo d'Alba 2017

Red wine from Neive, Italy. Of course make sure it breathes by decanting it, or pouring thru a Venturi style tube, or by pouring from 14 inches above your wine glass and letting it breathe for awhile. I poured it in a Bordeaux-shaped wine glass. This wine can take on the hearty flavors of a garlicky lasagne, or of a rosemary/mint herbed fatty rack of lamb. A hint of a peppery finish. — 7 days ago

Falletto Barolo Nebbiolo 2014

Not a wine for the ages but a really impressive showing from a tough vintage that is drinking well young — 5 days ago

Barbera d'Alba Superiore 2017

Yummmy. Needs at least one hour decanting to shine. Two is better. Overnight with cork in bottle better still. And the best: cellar this lovely wine for a decade or so. Though young , this barbera showed it could keep@up with the best in the region. Now: floral as hell on the nose. First taste: raisin,, sage, dried vanilla pod, sour cherry, hint of honeysuckle. Mid palate: more raisin, cherry replaced by several spring buds and herbs: savory, thyme, rose petal. Finish lasted longer as we nearly emptied the bottle. For now, it’s too young to pack much wallop here... though might do much better if left to air overnight with that cork half back on top. Tonight we got a hint of what’s to come: more mature herbs and some bolder flavors on the finish and surely much more layering of subtle flavors with age. — a day ago

Première Cuvée Brut Rosé Champagne Blend

Interesting without being funky but has the French character. Butter and lime. Paired with potato chips, shortbread cookies and Chick-fil-A nuggets — 5 days ago

Le Savagnin

Tart & sweet at the same time! A very nice white, perhaps close to a Chablis. Typical Chablis fruits, medium body, longer finish than many wines. Tasted at Parcelle Wine School @ Charlie Bird. — 16 days ago
