Collines De La Moure

Les Monestiers Collines Rhodaniennes Viognier 2016

Bright straw gold. Nose of underripe banana and white pepper. Palate is full-bodied and yields dried quince, white flowers, and white pepper. Full body. Medium (slightly) minus acidity (of course). Long dark finish. Classically French expression of this wonky Rhône variety. As such it’s more food-friendly than usual, and will particularly complement complex aromatic and flavorful foods. Cream sauces, pesto, and white spices will benefit especially well. Drink now. — 9 days ago

Rosé Les Collines Faugères 2018

"the geology and elevation give bright aromatics in fresh toothsome flavors to this rose wine, a hand-harvested blend of Cinsault 40%, Grenache 30%, Syrah 20%, Mourvedre 10%. It's rose but it's not your typical pinkish hue. It's paler, like wallpaper bleached by the sun. you will find hints of black fruit, a product of the razor sharp schist rock that makes up the top layer of soil in this region. aficionados of the language dark region instantly spot that telltale trace of garrigue - the bushy fragrant vegetation that grows on the Mediterranean." — 2 months ago

Quinet Collines Rhodaniennes Syrah 2015

Big intoxicating berry nose: blackberry, blueberry, mulberry, cassis, graphite and charcuterie, some lavender and violet and butterfly bush. It’s leaner and mineral on the palate, and there are some young rough trade tannins that might resolve and the fruit might fill out a bit. Very much a forest wine. — a month ago

Domaine Faury

Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes Syrah 2018

Solid value for a high quality delineated northern Rhône Syrah bargain that still reflects slope and terroir. Would probably be better after several years (REALLY opened up best after three days). Tannins are well integrated already for such a young Syrah but the med+ acid should carry this. Good snag to try again in a decade to see how much life it has left beyond. — 2 months ago

W.T. Vintners

50/50 Les Collines /Stoney Vine Syrah 2014

The Philosopher’s Stone Blend from W.T. Vintners is always interesting. This particular vintage was 50/50 Les Collines Syrah & Stoney Vine Syrah. Not my favorite Philosopher’s Stone blend (but the other club members voted for this blend) but still delicious. An interesting balance of the Rocks District and one of the best vineyards in Walla Walla. I prefer a little more funk from The Rocks though. — 20 days ago
