Les Vergers Clos Saint-Marc Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2012

Golden colored. Quite advanced but still very good. Oily lemon and honey but quite high toned. I’m not sure how much longer this has, but excellent now. — 3 days ago

Puligny-Montrachet Chardonnay 2014

Wow. Utterly magnificent for village puligny. Genius wine. Worth $100 easy. When morel hits it he hits it. Nose is so elegant. Fresh rainwater. Yellow flowers. Beautiful. The palate is sweet mineral goodness. Like a sweet rock was pulverized in your mouth. Long finish. A wine of beauty and distinction. Too bad French over regulation caused him to throw in the towel.

As this aerates the nose is beautiful. The palate is richer. But in such an elegant way.

This needs an hour to peak. Wow. This is gorgeous. Grand cru gorgeous. Wow. Hand over land. Lol. The ultimate king slayer to bring to a burgundy tasting.

Bought from fass selections.

Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 1999

Tasted blind. Medium gold color. Oxidative nose. Notes of citrus and baked apples, with a little caramel. Rich in the mouth. Modest fruit, light acidity. You can tell this has the stuffing of a great Montrachet, but clearly this bottle had more age than it should. I guessed “a poorly stored 92 Leflaive”. The 86 Niellon next to it looked 13 yrs younger rather than its 13 yrs older. Sadly the pox got this one. — 13 days ago

Les Fairendes Morgeots Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 1994

Special week in San Fran... splurge on this 25 year old Chardonnay... stunning savory Carmel butterscotch notes... deep gold in the glass.. still alive with vibrant acidity... perfect with open fire roasted petrale sole with brown butter. I’m not spoiled... I just prefer excellence in what I eat and drink. The Angler was amazing and the old burgundies stellar. — 6 days ago

Crisp citrus and saline with a bit of mint and some sandalwood. Medium and clear. Not a huge finish but very pretty — 19 days ago

Beautiful expression. Less than a hectare in size and directly above the famous Montrachet vineyard. Always fun to find these vineyards next to the monsters! — 14 days ago

Les Macherelles Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2015

Pale yellow. Solid effort from a big Burgundy producer. French oak influence is there, adding spice, along with limestone and a lower level of acidity from the warm 2015 vintage. SommSelect — 5 days ago
