2018 was a great find. Evocation of Madiran and Cahors wines, with Tannat and Malbec grapes. Very ripe black fruits, spices and toasted notes. Deep mouth and freshness well balanced. 17 is more flexible, is a bit more homogeneous and round. Definitely a very good quality / price / pleasure ratio.
— 4 days ago
Such a surprising nose - a bouquet of pungent roses right out of the bottle. Light, dry finish but a layered palette that makes me think of Bylinksá Kyselká. Not a sipper. $31 NH LS dp. — 7 days ago
Sorrel, musty leather, syrupy (not sweet), meaty and almost smoky, tannins and wet acid that carries through, tart and wet, leather, raspberry, currant, wet cherry, — 6 days ago
Exactly what I expect from a French Merlot! Lighter-bodied and jammy, bone-dry but still juicy. — a day ago
Near perfect '89 CdP. Rich, yet elegant. Strawberries and sous bois, earthy notes in the nose. Vibrant fruit on the palate. Drink now and over the next 5+ years. Tasted with '89 Bonny Dune Le Cigar Volent. Each complimented the other. Great wine.. — 6 days ago
Le Vieux Donjon was created in 1979 with the marriage of Lucien and Marie José Michel. Both Lucien & Marie José's parents owned vineyards in the region, and those holding were combined to form Le Vieux Donjon. Medium Ruby with aromas of sweet black fruits and pepper spice. On the palate complex flavors of cherry and blackberry, with notes if oak and spice. Full body, well balanced with long finish, perfect now. Outstanding. — a month ago
