Château Saint André Corbin

Château Grand Corbin-Despagne

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

2020 vintage. 75% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. Owned by the Despagne family since 1812, and the current 7th generation (François Despagne) seems to be serious about quality. This 2020 displays impressive aromatics, concentration, depth, and precision, with fresh acidity balancing the 15% abv. — 7 days ago

Domaine André Gagey Clos Saint Denis Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2013

Delectable Wine
8.9

The 2013 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru has a slightly dusty bouquet at first, more black than red fruit, cooked meats, a touch of sous-bois and singed leather. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly rustic tannins. For a Grand Cru, I would have wanted more depth and grip, though that said, it is fresh with a pleasant dash of balsamic on the finish. Fine. Château Corbin

St. Émilion Grand Cru Classé Red Bordeaux Blend 1975

1995 vintage. I have little experience with Corbin, an estate that has a long history of female owners ( currently Annabelle Cruse), but this is a very convincing 27 years old Saint-Emilion. Fully mature with delicate strawberry fruit, a fresh and charming old school Saint-Emilion. Abv. 12,5%. Makes me want to taste the more recent vintages. — a year ago

Saint-Joseph Syrah 2020

Delectable Wine
9.1

Crafted from fully destemmed grapes, the elegant and polished 2020 Saint-Joseph totally delivers. Violets, black cherry, raspberry and discrete cedar usher in. Ripe tannins structure this medium-bodied and concentrated Saint-Joseph that maintains its elegant profile right through to the refined finale. (Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous, March 2024)

Les Charmes de Grand Corbin

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

A deep dark purple. Very plumy maybe a little truffle. Smells very good on the nose, 13% alcohol but I don’t feel the normal tingly water slide. The finish is the most exotic I’ve had yet. A savory sensation, almost like I just had pork belly. There’s a dry finish bu the savoriness almost covers it up and makes my mouth water afterwards. The dry sensation is there but only for a bit. Then the flavor just rest on the tongue. The perfect blend of fruity and savory — 7 months ago

Château Grand Corbin Manuel

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

It's time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

On the nose black plums, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, tobacco, herbs, earth, dark chocolates and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cherries, wood, spices, peppercorn, dark chocolates, coffee, pencil lead and black pepper.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a tasty Merlot based blend from Saint Emilion. Tangy and interesting. A nice food wine and good by itself.

This 7 year old from the great 2015 vintage is still young, and will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 10 years.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, but good right out of the bottle, too.

Wine Enthusiasts 91 points.

I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A blend of 82% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon.

14% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$40.

Super tasty Bordeaux (Coop especially loved it) - Smoke, slate, cassis, dried cherries. Alcohol forward but smoothed out quickly once decanted. Enjoyed with pasta and White Christmas — 4 months ago

Chery Condrieu Viognier 2012

Ovenbird w M and Ritchie. Mineral. Textured. Fresh. Paired well w ankimo.

The 2012 Condrieu Coteaux du Chery, which comes from one of the most heralded sites in the appellation, is also brilliant (as is his 2011!). The most rich and textured of the lineup, it offers thrilling notes of white peach, crushed rock, buttered grapefruit, flowers and tangerine to go with a medium to full-bodied, layered, yet brilliantly fresh and detailed texture that keeps you coming back to the glass. It too will drink nicely for 4-5 years. I had a fabulous visit with proprietor Andre Perret at his cellar located just north of Chavanay. Soft spoken, charming and generous, he runs an immaculate cellar and releases up to three Condrieus in a vintage. In addition to his whites, he fashions elegant, almost Burgundian-styled reds from Saint Joseph that warrant more attention. RP95
