Château Laville Haut Brion

Château Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1975

Dark tawny color. Opaque. Quiet nose, even with extended air time. Notes of cut cigar, black cherry, gravel stone, molasses and some old desk wood. Also quiet in the mouth... but with nice texture. Over a few hours of drinking and with more air this got better and undeniably showed its HB pedigree. — 2 days ago

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1996

Strong, classic Graves Bordeaux. The cab franc was certainly present on the nose, perhaps because this was the sipping wine next to a 2009 Olga Raffault Chinon. Still good presence of darker fruits, with leather, earth and cedar. Nice mouthfeel. — 4 days ago

Château Larrivet Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Blanc White Bordeaux Blend 2017

Pale lemon with aromas of stone and tropical fruits with citrus and floral notes. On the palate flavors of pear, apple and white peach with citrus and oaky notes. Medium finish ending with fruit, toasty oak and spicy notes. — 6 days ago

Château Haut-Brion

Graves Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

Tasted blind. Deep reddish tawny color. Notes of black cherry, smoke and wood, gravel stone, barnyard and lead pencil. Great fruit and still present acidity/tannins. We’re all in the Bordeaux camp with guesses – and it seems young so initial thoughts are that this is from the 90’s. But then the historical datapoints of having 82 Bordeaux in the past bring us to the 82 vintage with guesses. I go with 82 Lafite. I was bummed I couldn’t pick up that this is the Haut Brion, as it was obvious after the reveal we should have picked up the gravel and barnyard notes to point to Graves as the origin. This got better over the day, of course. Great juice with a long life ahead of it — 21 days ago

I love this wine

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1986

Dark purple tawny and opaque. Notes of gravel stone, freshly cut cigar, saddle leather, mocha and some barnyard floor. Has a great earthiness to it. Smooth in the mouth with great structure. The fruit and finish are slightly dry, and with that I suspect the wine is slightly past its most powerful peak. But overall the perfume of the wine is amazing and certainly memorable. — 2 days ago

Clarendelle

Haut-Brion Cabernet Franc Blend 2015

Pours inky dark. Bouquet of dusty berries. Upfront taste of plums and dark berries with some smoke and chocolate. Some leather and earthiness on the finish. Definitely old world style — 23 days ago
