L'Etoile Savagnin 2012

Not my favorite from montbourgeau; more sherry like and oxidative than some other more balanced sous-voile bottlings — 2 months ago

Really nice Macon. Loads of minerality. This one is really starting to open up nicely. — 5 months ago

Xavier Vignon

Arcane L'Etoile Grenache Blend

Xavier Vignon’s Arcane l’Etoile, a multi-vintage blend from 2015, 16 & 17 drawn from several plots in Beaumes-de-Venise, is a dark and alluring wine with saturated blackberry, dark chocolate and strong espresso notes. Not soft, but also fairly mild in acidity with moderate tannin towards the finish. But this is no plush southern Rhône wine and feels almost slightly off-balance at the moment - austere, even - and perhaps needs a few years to harmonise. Quite a hot finish. Potential, though. — a month ago

Love this wine. Such a great Jura producer and Montbourgeau’s chard blends in particular are consistently delicious and great values

L'Etoile Blanc White Blend 2016

I love Jura wines! The similarities with sherry are obvious but the aroma is softer, mellower. Spices, ripe fruit, nuts, savory, oysters, and some honey below the surface. Medium-bodied, dusty, and a little tannin. Dry bitter lime, apples, with a lingering finish. This is a beautiful wine. — a month ago

@Romain Fitoussi this wine is eating and drinking in one, to enjoy on its own. Perhaps a simple pain perdu...

Cuvée Spéciale L'Etoile Chardonnay Blend 2012

This is a delightful wine. Nose of walnut and green apple. Straight up umami on the palate: super concentrated, rich, salty, seashell, mineral, textured, delicious thing, with a loooong finish. So precise and balanced. Silly great value. Paired with leek au gratin and kale minestrone. Perfection. — 7 months ago
