Château Haut Bourbon

Château Haut-Batailley

Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot Blend 2015

2015 vintage. Last tasted 11.4.21 (9.4). Late night PNP. Slightly less tannins and has picked up a bourbon-styled nose along with a mostly decomposed/integrated manure cameo. Light-medium body. Raspberry and delicate chocolate notes resonate. The cigar/tobacco influences still there but less pronounced. Wine is getting prettier but squarely between homme et femme. Finish is still no stops till Hades. 5.14.24. — 3 days ago

Château Haut-Brion

Graves Red Bordeaux Blend 1989

Deep and complex. Gnarly slightly wild fruit. Earthiness, intense and yet reduced. While not the best bottle of this I’ve had it’s still pretty amazing stuff. A long life ahead — 9 days ago

Brooding and characterful. Tobacco and roses and gorgeous pure fruit. Softening all the time. Savory and delicious. — 8 days ago

Château Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Medium ruby , slighter narrower ruby / pink rim , a little less bright . Slightly deeper , darker fruits , blueberry, violets , with scorched earth , mineral and grafite . On the palate , more intensity and power perhaps , more noticeable though still velvety tannin , dark fruits , mineral , saline , fresh cigar. Lovely fresh acidity , balanced alcohol . Long saline , mineral tinged, slightly toasty finish . Needs time obviously , but will be one of the great wines from a great vintage in 20 years, just wait — 21 days ago

Some raspberries and cherries, a little of tannins. Was great with braised elk and king trumpet mushrooms. — 13 days ago

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1998

Youthful when 1st opened that needed some air to develop. This was polished with notes of graphite, cedar, leather, menthol, savory spice & tobacco — 7 days ago

I’ve come to believe that bdx, much like Napa, is not really worth fucking with unless they’re min 8-10 years old.
