Belgian White Belgian-Style Wheat Ale 2022

Classic Belgian style white wheat ale. Reminds me of summer so far away here where we live.

Great beer to sip while listening to tunes with friends and family.

One of my favorites!

Dogfish Head Brewery

75 Minute IPA

Red gold body with a Matisse sketched white ring and merengue peaked, sheet-lacing. Clean citrus nose exhibiting clementine and dried pineapple, Meyer lemon and a faint funky-persimmon and lotus. There is something pleasant about the naturalness of the aromatics here with dried lemon verbena and Calloway seed. Orange and tangerine eclipse the lemon on the palate and add sweet grapefruit, and a clove note that tightly binds the whole. The bitterness being mitigated by the maple was brilliant here! Makes the Dogfish 90 seem clunky in comparison. I am a fan of this manifestation. Careful crafting and a simple solution to tune aggressive hops. There is no maple flavor btw. .

Kagua Blanc Belgian Strong Pale Ale

Interesting brew here in NYC listening to Jazz. Tastes a lot like a German wheat beer. Moving on to try another Japanese ... a stout. — 6 years ago

Domaine Marquis d'Angerville

Domaine du Pélican Arbois Savagnin Ouillé 2018

Textured like fancy Burgundy, round, pure, racy; flavors are salty like Chablis, earthy and funky like Alsace, spicy and leesy like Belgian beer. Just a little boozy and over the top, but a lot to like here. — 3 years ago

Brasserie Dupont

Saison Dupont

There's a great video on YT on what a Saison is. In short, it's a farmhouse ale (pale or sometimes red) that was historically served to farm workers as a clean source of hydration. Without any distinctive characters and lower in alcohol then, the "Saison" only really gained it's signature when the house in question came into the equation. Also, based on my research, the checkered "Vielle Provision" yellow labels are the export labels.

As it was here, the Dupont Brewery's Saison is generally cloudy, very carbonated via bottle conditioning, zesty and spicy, bitter with a hint of sour, and a dry hoppy finish. For me, this is truly "The beer for all seasons" - the flavours are just so versatile. Perfect for a warm summer afternoon in the park, yet complex enough to pair with a 3-star dish.

Rogue

Mocha Porter

So far, I've enjoyed everything I've tasted from this brewery - the nameworthy Chocolate Stout, the super smooth and nutty Hazelnut Brown Nectar, and perhaps my favourite so far, the orange wine-tasting Combat Wombat. The verdict is the same here. The Mocha Porter's a good beer.

Had a similar dark beer a couple of weeks ago with chocolate and coffee notes all over, but this felt much more nuanced in hindsight. The Kasteel was full on with the chocolate, but the Mocha Porter let's it play second fiddle, allowing the chocolate to play a supporting role to the more "beer-y" malty hoppy elements. Same can be said of the coffee notes. They basically highlight all that bitter sweet toasty elements. Finishes fresh and creamy. Would definitely drink this again!

Legit beer here, love this style and this delivered! Clean crisp with great balance of weight & energy. No bitterness & no sweetness, just pure grain w/tiniest hint of citrus, yeast, hops. — 4 years ago

Rumpkin Pumpkin Ale

Sediment rich auburn redhead. With orange-tinged crown, that shrinks to tiara to tonshu with a snap, leaving only a shrinking island across a flat, rusty pond. Drops of black molasses, cooked, glazed pumpkin, butternut and acorn squashes. Dark rum soaked Dutch chocolate and vanilla wafers and moist pineapple cake. Trifles sporting rum soaked berry and carry-overs of ripe peach and nectarine. Finally date roll, figs ginger, candied lemon peel and dark brown sugar to fill the nostrils with seasonal magicks. Actual pumpkin tastes here! Rich and filled with vanilla bean, Turkish delight, fig fillings, nutmeg, candied ginger, gingerbread in caramel and spiced rum, gin-raisins, coriander, allspice, coffee cremes, clotted cream, clove, just-burnt cinnamon candies, reduced cola, licorice, and orange liqueur with a touch of juniper. Strong, festive, outrageously alcoholic (17.5 abv) delightful, warming, singular and iconic. Central Coast Dry Gewürztraminer 2017

Pale golden color, excellent clarity. Honeysuckle note in nose. Spice, tart litchi, and pineapple flavors with a hint of apricot, mango and kumquat. Citric-malic finish with spicy barrel wood, almost brassy or alt-beer like in its acid and flavor character. Some skin astringency. Slightly bitter lactic aftertaste. Good crispness, lower alcohol but flavorful. I’m not sure about the balance in the flavor profile here, but it is Alsatian in style, subtle in its fruit expression and blessedly dry. — 6 years ago
