Domaine Coche-Dury (J.F. Coche Dury)

Bourgogne Chardonnay 2023

Quite light lemon , hints of green . On the nose this is quite fruit forward , with citrus , come apricot , touch creamy , butter and some light struck match notes . On the palate this has good volume , with nice ripe fruits , citrus peel , yellow fruits , creamy touches . Quite round but really enough acidity to balance . Good citrus freshness on the decent finish . Lovely now though young , from now and over the next 5 -8 years . Ma Cuisine in Beaune — 22 days ago

Bourgogne Chardonnay

Medium lemon yellow , some development . On the nose this is still quite fresh , with some yellow fruits , white peach, white flowers, red apple , creamy lemon curd . On the palate this is quite rounded with touch of smoky lemon curd, lightly buttery and white peach . Balanced acidity , but not the brightest , and ok length , quite rounded but balanced . Good now and over the next few years . Impressive for a basic Bourgogne Blanc , especially from 2011. — 8 months ago

Nose is stunning, baby Chassagne 1er Cru all the way: green apple skin, green apple flesh, white flowers, lime zest, lime flesh, and that clean Burgundian mineral snap. Palate is unreal: concentrated, savory, juicy, nimble, elegant, pure, bright, and mouthwatering. A little savory pull on the finish, with terrific length and energy. This is Chassagne Premier Cru quality, and I will die on that hill. After a few hours the finesse is off the charts. Stunning wine. 9.5 to 9.6. — a month ago

Happy Twelve Days After My Birthday to me. I rarely see but always cherish wines from Henri Boillot. This Bourgogne outclasses the majority of village whites. Tastes and smells like a top quality Meursault to me, though I understand other villages contribute to the blend. Hazelnut, oatmeal, a little lemon oil, gorgeous fruit. Crisp in the mouth, with excellent buoyant acids and nice persistence. Yum. My rating might be a little generous because I’m happy to be drinking this! — 8 months ago

23 such a great white vintage. Raise a hand if you prefer White Burgundy over Ca Chardonnay.

I commented on
@Jay Kline or @Andrew Cullimore post that I really love this producers style. It is distinctive to me. It’s elegant, lush and plush. Their wines wire to wire have such beauty and elegant consistency

The nose is inviting with lime-skin (inside & out)- pulp, juice, Meyer lemon skin-pulp, kiwi, pineapple, tropical melons, herbaceous, volcanics, mint, deep chalkiness, sea spray, sea fossils, gentle white spice, cream, caramel, sunflowers, white spring flowers & jasmine.

The mouthfeel is round, lush, viscous & somewhat waxy. Lime-skin (inside & out)-pulp, juice, Meyer lemon skin-pulp, kiwi, pineapple, tropical melons, herbaceous notes, toast, volcanics, mint, deep chalky powder, saline, sea fossils, dry twig, soft oak powder, limestone marl, gentle white spice w/ palate heat, cream, caramel, sunflowers, white spring flowers & jasmine, waterfall acidity, well balanced, nicely tensioned /structured, good length and a beautiful, elegant 90 second finish that sets on white spice and minerals.

In 2015, my wife and I spent the morning & afternoon w/ Olivier touring the vineyards, cellar and then had a long lunch tasting 8 of his wines. Absolute gentleman. Always wearing his signature a ferdor hat.

Tasted a lot of 2023 burgundies last weekend. Thought I’d try a white with some age.

With aging white burgundy, sometimes it gives you a touch of v/a. This is on nose but not the palate. Believe it is v/a but there is some confusion with the scent of mushrooms. Thought it might be some burgundy cellar funk. But yes, some detectable v/a. Yet, it’s not entirely offensive.

The palate show excellent viscosity. It’s full & round. Golden-green apples, creamy lemons, some lime zest, both stone fruits, not so sweet pineapple syrup & kiwi notes, warm caramel, Brach’s butterscotch candy, gentle but thick honey, their is some unfortunate, faint wet cardboard that comes once it opens up, mushrooms, saline-sea foam, excellent, white spice, oyster fossils, touch of flintiness-gun powder, smooth chalky powder, wet limestone marl, some herbal notes, yellow lilies, white Spring florals set in greens, pleasant, round acidity with perfect balance, mid toned/structured, nicely knitted, elegant, rich finish that lasts 90 seconds and lands on spice, chalk and volcanic minerals on the long set.

Unfortunate about the minimal cardboard. I’d add a point, maybe two w/o it.
