Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2019 classico pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of sour cherry, cranberry, red flowers, dried herbs, gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and satisfying. To my palate, this is a fine classico from Serralunga d’Alba. Drink now with patience but I expect this will show better after 2029 and through 2044. — 8 months ago

On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of Morello cherries, red roses, tangerine, pomegranate, talcum powder, dried sage, truffle, and dried stony earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and savory. A lovely expression of 2019 Barbaresco. From my brother’s stash, such a beautiful Finger Lakes Riesling. More German GG than Alsace GC. Nose has bright apple fruit, with a fleeting note of almost ripe peach, green herbs, clover, and a minerality that reminds me a bit of Chablis because of a little brothy note. Perfect balance in the mouth: fruit, acids, minerality, alcohol. Lip-smacking long finish, and bone dry throughout. — 2 years ago

At Coci Northpark San Diego. The wine. Food excellent. Very very difficult to evaluate. I think they used too much oak on this. Ridiculous big and tannic even after 12 years. And after 90 minutes. I tough it is corked at first and even at 60min. Tobacco, cigar box. Touch cherry hint of prune plum. And better with a t-bone than with the light Italian food.I think they really overdid it to please - May be Robert Parker - at the time? Give it at least 2 hours to breathe before serving!!!! — 22 days ago

Unfortified, aged under flor single vintage and single vineyard Palomino Fino.
Closer to Jura in character than a ‘usual’ solera aged Fino.
Fresh, vibrant, racy. Clearly oxidative with yeasty & chalky notes, dried herbs but also some shy pear. And loads of salt!
On the palate this is crisp, fresh, bone dry and mineral. Powerful yet with nice freshness & balance. Chalky, salty, with some pears wrapped in bacon, olive brine and whiff of chamomile in the long finish.
I was not convinced upon opening and on day 1. The day after this is very, very drinkable. Bring on the tapas!

Light straw colour . Quite intense and mineral in the nose, with just a hint of kerosine. After a while white flowers , lightly honied green apple . Really intense and quite full bodied on the palate , bone dry but this has a richness but also great freshness and mineral precision . Green apple , creamy citrus and wet stones on the long finish . Well balanced and still very young , will no doubt have a long life ahead , but no crime to try this now . — 6 days ago
