Fattoria dei Barbi (Colombini)
Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

Takes its name from the free-spirited gentleman named Bruscone who lived in the woods of the Barbi Estate. Deep Ruby with sweet red berry aromas and earthy notes. On the palate cherry, licorice and sweet plum showing nicely. Soft tannins, well balanced on long finish ending with earthy herb tones. Tasting well still has room to age. Great value!

On the palate cherry, licorice and sweet plum showing nicely. Fine tannins, well balanced on lingering finish ending with earthy herb tones. Needed an hour to open the flavors. Age worthy.

Classic styled Brunello. Tart dried cherry, with leather and licorice. Pale translucent red with massive tannin and acidity. Thought it was Barolo. 🤷♂️ #blindtasting #brunello #Barbi

At Coci Northpark San Diego. The wine. Food excellent. Very very difficult to evaluate. I think they used too much oak on this. Ridiculous big and tannic even after 12 years. And after 90 minutes. I tough it is corked at first and even at 60min. Tobacco, cigar box. Touch cherry hint of prune plum. And better with a t-bone than with the light Italian food.I think they really overdid it to please - May be Robert Parker - at the time? Give it at least 2 hours to breathe before serving!!!!

Quite brown already. Barky nose. Tons of tannins left. Seems overoaked and styled to me. I am glad i opened this up. Minty like a California Cab. More notes after this gets some air. Out of the gate not that impressive. Seems too old.

A sweet and very pleasant core of cherry and strawberry dominates the senses. Wild herbs. Beautiful persistance. This is the best vintage ever of this wine according to my opinion. Superior than the great 2010.

Tart cherry, tobacco leaf, some big tannins that were relatively mild. With my lasagna, perfecto.

Fruity with a lick of spice at the end. Good for pastas. Ate with a rotole of ricotta and spinach and was delicious.
