This is go to Brunello and first wine in almost two weeks - been a crazy two weeks and glad it is behind me / also recuperating from my first round of golf in a long time

So just closed my eyes sort of to pick tonight and this baby is helping me with my back pain and get me ready for tomorrow’s golf

This is not as good as I remember but still delicious

Piombaia

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2012

Tiny bit of barnyard on open. Lighter garnet in color. Blew off to lovely black and red fruits with light hints of anise. Sleek finish. Great with prime strip steak. 2nd dinner this week at #prestonhouse did not disappoint! — 14 days ago

Banfi

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2012

Color of clear dark burgundy with orange and yellow tone in the volume and on the rim. Nose of green pepper, grass, dried strawberries, a bit overpowering alcohol, and just a tiny bit of mineral. Taste of subtle acidity, like balsamic vinegar, dried strawberries, spice, like anise, good tannins, green pepper, clean and quite tasty, some more berries, and a bit bittersweet. Aftertaste shows similar lightness and cleanliness, medium short. She is suitable for a hot summer. Price tag does affect my rating. — 9 days ago

PS Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2004

My notes from last year still on point:
Fuller bodied and softer than last try, smoky and light minerals over gentle cedary wood and dark cherry. A mature wine with enough gritty tannin to go a long way.
Still that same strange white sediment.
This still has 2-3 years easily.

Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2010

Dark cherry, tobacco, some leather and a hint of violets and lavender on the nose. Good balance on the palate with nice dark fruit and a full palate with a slightly soured finish. This has some time ahead but is fun now. Great with stuffed peppers. — 15 days ago

Fantastic! Cherry, menthol nose. Very aromatic. Tastes of cherry, sappy fruits. Firm tannins. Long finish. Will hold for a decade or more. — 4 days ago

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2012

Big, fruit-forward and powerful. A bold wine with excellent tannins and nice acidity...it’s drinking well now but definitely had many, many years ahead of it. — 12 days ago
