Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona

Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2017

Pizza wine! No formal notes but I drank this alongside the Mocali RdM and I found this to be more to my preference. The Ciacci Piccolomini has a touch more polish and class; with a bit more depth while still being very true to place. Don’t get me wrong, the Mocali was good, this was just a touch better in my opinion. — 3 days ago

La Rasina

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2013

Cherry, plum, and spice. Tannins are still a bit rough, but all of the elements are there. Small family-owned estate, organic, unfiltered. Give this another 5 years. 2013 vintage on May 21, 2020 — 7 days ago

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2011

Not sure where this came from? Found this in the bottom rack. Tight and firm. Good description after the gym but as a wine it was restrained. Still enjoyable showing cherry, pomegranate, blackberry, bark and moss. — 11 days ago

Fattoria dei Barbi (Colombini)

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2011

Takes its name from the free-spirited gentleman named Bruscone who lived in the woods of the Barbi Estate. Deep Ruby with aromas of berry fruits and sweet herb notes. On the palate ripe cherry, plum and dried fruits with tobacco and cola notes, well balanced on firm tannins still with a good grip that loosens quickly. Long finish ending with mineral and earthy notes. Good now but will still benefit from a few more years. Went great with hearty pasta dish! — 8 days ago

Tenuta Caparzo

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2013

BlackBerry, currant and plum. A hint of caramel. Very little tannin. Brunello growers from 40 years ago would not have recognized this Elizabetta Gnudi Angelli cuvée — 6 days ago

Casanova di Neri

30 ° Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2012

Got another ‘12. Established in 1971 when Giovanni Neri acquired a large estate in Montalcino. Aged for almost 4 years on oak, 100% Sangiovese. Ruby with aromas of ripe dark fruits, oak and spice. Full-bodied wine with medium+ acidity, fine developed smooth tannins with elegance & finesse. Ripe fruit flavors of cherry & strawberry, complex with notes of cacao, tobacco, toasty & earthiness on the long finish. Very nice, developed well. My Wow Wine! — 11 days ago

Have loved every vintage of this one I’ve had!

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2013

My favorite Brunello producer. Hits the mark every time. Earthy nose of freshness. Palate is driven by sun soaked Tuscan raspberries. Traditional minerals of Sangiovese and some burnt wood. Medium plus acidity will allow this to age effortlessly. Tannins present but quite integrated. Just a beautiful wine — 13 days ago
