Stunningly well made. Still has that balance and structure. Amazing acidity. It’s in a spot where I’d wait 5 years. In 10 years when alto is the more popular with the rich crowd this will be the bling. Bought from fass selections. ... after an hour the Nebbiolo spice kicks in. Wow. You can drink this now with a decant. But still better in 5 years. ... after 2 hours ... radiant mouth coating spice. Delicious deep cherry with licorice hints. Nose is getting better. Celebrating another trip around the sun. This Piper Rare is medium straw in colour. Masses of ultra fine bubbles ( fine persistent mousse). Complex toasty aromas with a touch of gun smoke and flinty notes. On the palate Complex, Intense and Refreshing all at once. Chalky minerality with a saline note. Yellow fruits with creamy notes starting to take over the acid at 18 years. A blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir. An outstanding Champagne from a great year where the contents more than lives up to the bling of the packaging. Tempted to make a statement and give it 98 points. — 6 years ago

The deluxe bling bling bottling at Schneider. What a nose. More youthful than the normal. Big berry, big cherry, forest floor, cassis, spice, just gorgeous and more obviously youthful. But after coaxing there is serious aromatic depth. Palate is lovely and elegant and has substantial fruit and spice. Even a hit of red licorice. Sweet sappy fruit, velvety and such fine and elegant tannins. Even chewy in the most light way possible. Just ethereal and substantial at the same time. Palate develops with cranberry, some hoisin sauce, and deep cassis that stays with you. Excellent and has life ahead of it. — 6 years ago

The new elite high end bling bling cuvee from Sylvain Gauthier of Domaine des Pierres Seches. I’ve been waiting to taste this for a long time. What a nose. Cote Rotie like! Super dark florals, granite, wet clay, dark blackberry fruit. Lifted, complex and super elegant. A nose that stops you in your tracks. White pepper. Violets. My goodness the florals are like elite Cote Rotie. Just stunning. Best nose on a Gauthier wine ever. Endless depth on the palate and big but so so elegant. Wow this is special. Sappy, dense, concentrated and so peppery. Amazing and I mean amazing freshness. Finish is so delineated, gamey and meaty. Concentrated but so lightweight! Wow. The texture here is crazy. This has endless and uncommon depth. Unreal length. This is super super elite wine. Wow, I am speechless. This is one of the best St. Jo’s I’ve ever had. Remarkable in every way. Big tannins that are so sweet and so ripe. This wine has big time dark energy but man is it good. Lurid. Nose starts to develop black and green olive after some air. Wow the granitic freshness that develops after air is something else. Crazy tiny berry fruit intensity. Just explosive. A wine of contemplation and also way too young. This could be as high as 9.9 with age. I’ll be back as it develops.

After many hours this just gets better and better. The nose smells like a JM stephan Cote rotie. Citrus rind, tree bark, spices, violets. Florals. Just an amazing wine. Complex granite and forest floor. Concentrated and so elegant, with great power and structure. Gets to every nook and cranny. Vivid olives on the mid and backend. Abundant yet ripe tannins. A magical bottle of wine.
