1990 vintage. Decanted and tasted after one hour. Medium body. A shade darker than the 1990 La Turque tasted alongside. Deeper smoky, gamey nose. Meaty, gamey, smoky and beef broth/sous bois in the flavors. Super savory. This was phenomenal. Should be able to sustain this performance for the better part of a decade before noticeable drop off. Wowzers. Last tasted 3.24.23 with the same score. 3.15.24. — a month ago
Tasting the 1990 Léoville Las Cases just a few days after the 1989, it is clear which is the best vintage…this one. It has a sublime nose of melted black fruit, tar, cedar and bay leaf that shrugs off the heat of that summer better than most others. At 33 years of age, you could just lose yourself in these aromatics. The palate is clearly holding up well: beautifully defined and supple yet with typical Las-Cases backbone and depth. It builds magnificently in the glass toward a harmonious finish that reminds me of the 1985 in terms of its fleshiness. Wonderful. Tasted at the Lia's Wings/book dinner at Medlar restaurant. 1990 vintage. Decanted and tasted after one hour. Light-medium body. Great color still. Smoke and earth in the nose. Cedar, spiciness and rusticity on a long finish. Still relevant and kicking. Can hold tight for another 6-7 years. Must be a revelation out of a larger format bottle currently...3.15.24. — a month ago

Deep garnet color; graphite, blackberries, and oak on the nose; medium acidity; medium plus tannins; tastes like casis, crushed gravel, and leather with a long finish. It may be a little past prime, but it still has a little fruit. Best wine I've ever had. This was a contender for wine of the night, at least at my table. (Not going to compare to the 1947 Petrus or even 2001 Petrus at other tables.). Well integrated and rounded. Just a solid wine with the courses at Bar Boulud. Mostly enjoyed with the sweetbread course. — 18 days ago
