Slightly reticent on the nose. Not the greatest bottle of this, but not bad… just a little under.

Deep scarlet tawny color. Almost opaque. Beguiling nose with notes of sweet fruit including raspberry and strawberry, some stone, some earth. Rich and luscious in the mouth. My guesses were in burgundy. This wine continues to hold at peak. Love this wine.

Day 2 of WineBoyz Wineapalooza. Tasted blind. Nice regal red color, looks young. Notes of red fruit, slate stone, some menthol, some spice and some earth. Great mouth feel. Silky in the mouth. By now the taste buds are getting polluted and tired, and I somehow find myself in Burgundy ... Guessed 80 Ponsot CdlR. This grew and grew as the day went on. Needed a lot of air to show its stuff. Great juice, one of my favorite wines. 96+

Tasted blind alongside another bagged bottle. This is dark ruby in color, but mostly translucent. Has a very perfumed nose with red fruit notes, plums, slate stones, grilled meat, some pepper and some nice spice. In the mouth it's so silky. Coats everything it touches, and the tastes linger. I guess 95 Chave. Can't believe this wine came off as so young. I think it's at peak and will not get any better with more age, but has many years of pleasure in front of it - especially great condition bottles like this one. My WOTN.

This is very composed and pretty. Sweet fruit with lovely acidity. Some leather, iron notes, lucid tangy brambly stuff and clear cherry fruit. Garrigue and dried herbs. Lovely and great definition. Superb

I was disappointed. Just an off bottle I guess.

The best bottle of this wine I’ve ever had. So fresh, minty and intoxicatingly pure. And it survived a flood. Go figure.

Bright and elegant, leathered red pit fruit, dried florals, low tide brine, tar and dusty earth. Coiled still but open and beautifully textural, lovely and long on the pallet. 1990 is consistently one of the most beautiful bottles of Chave I’ve had.

Incredible. An onslaught of flavors; from dried cherry and craisins to potpourri, salumi and gun smoke. While soft and elegant, such a masculine wine. Wanted it to last forever.
