Hermitage Syrah 1983

Tawny with reddish amber rims. Dark yet translucent. Great old Chave nose. Black cherry, wet forest floor, smoked meats, menthol, slate stone and rhubarb notes. Vibrant in the mouth right out of the gate. Lots of structure and pucker. Fruit present but starting to fade. This was at peak first two hours and then started slowing down, opposite of the Trimbach CSH next to it. Still this was really good ~37 yr old grape juice. — 20 hours ago

Farconnet Hermitage Syrah

Aroma: blueberries, violets, smoked meat
Palate: violets, blueberry, and cherry. Good balance between acidity and fine tannins.
Finish: medium to long
Overall Impression: still young and energetic. Can remain a few more years in the cellar.

L'Hermitage Syrah 2014

In perfect balance. Everything one could draw out is there. Structure is excellent. This wine was elegant and approachable with a silky tannin structure and a strong fruit core, making the wine approachable immediately but worth a good wait as well. If this is not an outstanding vintage, I can’t imagine what is (besides the structure to facilitate a highly extended aging period, which this wine may lack). Rather, I think this is good wine making through and through that allows the wine making, vintage, and dirt to harmonize into a high quality. What’s the point of rating something like this? — 11 days ago

Salmon rolls plus salmon colored sparkling equals the best most refreshing swim upstream. Yum yum yum. Should be New Years but it’s a Sunday!
Strawberry shortcake sparkles. Love this bottle of lilting joy. Perfect sashimi marriage partner.
