Domaine Jean-Louis Chave
Saint-Joseph Syrah
Still developing, all business at this point, nothing flashy but has it together. All of the classical northern Rhône things are there (violets, pepper, smoked meat, herbs et al). A nice way to experience the maestro without shelling out big(ger) bucks for the Hermitage

1 person found it helpfulNov 29th, 2019Very good, balanced wine, even if could stand a few more years of aging. Savory notes with hints of fruit of the nose. Palate: well-integrated melange of blackberries, black cherry, white pepper, pine, flint and the meaty quality this region is famous for. Long finish of cocao and gunpowder.

Lovely balance on palate but fruit is a touch muted. All the components are in place but this wine needs a little cellar time
