Vintage 2020 | I could put my hands on some bottles thanks to @Willem Jan Withagen who has a crush on Klevner. Bought at the domaine. Refined and introverted smell of papaya and passion fruit. Well balanced sweet taste. Drank it today as aperitive with an amuse of tunafish and rillettes of duck. Certainly, a like. Rare curiosity. — a year ago

Wonderful nose of spicey oak and intense minerality. Saline. Rock quarry vibes. Lemon pith lemon flesh with hints of sugar. So complex and appealing. Hint of butter and loads of salinity. Nose is just a wonderful perfume. 9.6 nose. Showing so well. Palate is juicy and tensile with a killer rich texture and ample freshness. Chewy and rocky with great finesse and some green apple fruit. Lacey, juicy and slippery. Amazing purity and balance here and almost finished with some dry tannins. Just awesome. Like a white burgundy liquid drop amuse bouche. — 4 years ago

Feral and vinegary for a second, then a fresh basket of cherries, citrus accents, and forest floor, creeping vegetation.

The 1955 La Mission Haut-Brion is not only one of the best vintages ever made at the estate, but also represents one of the top five Bordeaux wines of the 20th century. This was my fourth bottle and to give it a perfect score was easy. Clear in color, it sports a bouquet that is unbelievably intense and yet refined, delivering a kaleidoscope of aromas: black fruit, crushed rock, freshly rolled tobacco and shaved black truffles (but not the aniseed note I noticed in previous examples). The palate is exquisitely poised, brimming over with tension and energy undimmed by the passing years, and symmetrical on the finish. Hints of blood orange linger tantalizingly on the aftertaste. You almost laugh at the unequivocal perfection. Tasted at the La Mission Haut-Brion dinner at Amuse Bouche in Hong Kong. (Neal Martin, Vinous, September 2021)

Lawd, this is such a great Savennieres. I vastly prefer this higher end cuvee to the oxidative style of the cuvee speciale. Deep and vivid nose of honey, almonds, some peach and apricot fruit, and also a hint of marzipan. So complex. Palate is juicy and ripe with exquisite purity, acidity and a drop dead amuse Bouche oysters and pearls texture. The Malo helps there and adds so much. Great acidity that tingles and shocks you but it ripe and generous as well. That Chenin lighting. Palate is amazingly dense and complex with just an incredible amount of material but also echoes with iodine, hazelnut and some sweet herbs. This is really complex. Finish is almost tannic with great depth and has many parts. A beautiful, albeit young wine. A stunner. — 7 years ago
