Monthly WTF wine group meet up. This month is new world vs old world Rhône’s. All wines tasted blind. 3 flights.
I pulled this out as a bonus bottle as I wanted to compare it against the other C-H. This was significantly darker in profile. Violets, underripe blackberry, charcoal, and a streak of iron down the middle. Chewy tannins. — 14 days ago
Tasty wine. Needed some time to open but was very balanced and expressive when it did. Less mineral and more oak than expected, but it works. — 10 days ago
Peachy passion fruit — 3 days ago
This has always been a wine to decant to blow off rubbery notes in its youth and now some more complex reductive and bottle age notes. That reduction is hard to ignore but plenty of good structure and mature fruit still makes for interesting and satisfying drinking, especially alongside a perfectly grilled scotch fillet. 👍🏼 — a month ago
