Alain Aubert

Aubert

CIX Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022

Solid Pinot. Understated to the point of being a bit too mild. Drank easily but lacked complexity. On the other hand it wasn’t an American Pinot fruit bomb. — 16 days ago

I’m not a fan of Aubert’s pinots. I stick with his chards…

This was my first. I subscribe so it was available to try in my allocation. It was fine not more. So I agree

UV-SL Vineyard Chardonnay 2021

Delicious! Floral and citrus extravaganza. Lemon, lime, caramel, butter, honey, vanilla, and ginger. Elegant finish. Fabulous right now, but will probably keep for a while. — 11 days ago

Aubert

CIX Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2016

I agree with Shay’s review. Lemon curds, baked peaches, honeysuckle, butter, caramel, and fresh grass. Sweet and powerful, more so, I think, than most Auberts. I am still partial to Aubert’s Lauren and UV-SL, but this is delicious. — a month ago

Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2016

Unfortunately I do not have much experience with St Vivant😉.My nose is assaulted by waves of red fruit, earth, roses and lots of spice. In the mouth juicy waves of red and black cherries are cut short by firm tannins.
Lots of hints, but no conclusions.

Nice. Like this producer. Who among us has enough experience with Grand Cru RSV? Obviously a decade+ too young but if it's getting popped, you've gotta taste it...if only to gauge how much longer before it starts to lower the defenses.

Lol…I’m simply grateful that I’ve got any experience with RSV, even if it was a relatively weak year of DRC, it was still very lovely.

Hmm. Perhaps bad luck/an off bottle. I personally have wondered about the longevity of Aubert. It seems engineered for early sumptuousness but I have had a few 5-6 year old bottles that also didn’t live up to expectations.

@Vino Joe, personally, 5 - 6 yrs really does little to excite me. On average, my experience with Aubert is after this period, the risk of a poor showing increases significantly. Just my personal observation.
