This bottle came through a fraught ocean passage in 2018, with heat and humidity extremes. It has retained its fruit, structure and more. Lush blackberries, with a tannic kick. A ton of other flavors in there they you can discover. Thrilled that it survived so well. — 2 years ago
Luscious dark black fruits with black pepper, dark chocolate and cedar. This wine is like velvet! — 5 months ago
La Passage Lyon. Without looking, immediately knew it was a fine Burgundy. Sweet black fruit on the nose, caramel finish. 👌 — 2 years ago
Yes, 6 varietals….nevertheless, the Monticello tar/singe is framing this one. The 2012 was decidedly more balanced. EDIT: after a full day of air the funk wore off and the sour turned decidedly more balanced and sweet… Worthy of a one point pump ;) — 2 years ago
Mid Ruby red in colour with a tawny edge. Sour cherry with touches of pepper and cloves. Not as raspberry as I was expecting from old vine Mataro. With a couple of hours of aeration the raspberry notes started coming through finishing with Sandy tannins. This wine is made by the multi talented Andrew Caillard who is the supremo of Fine Wine retailer and auctioneer Langtons who allowed Andrew to make his superb range of wines under his own label using old vine Mataro and Shiraz; painted the exquisite labels himself and who achieved a Master of Wine in his spare time. I am lucky to have 5 of these beauties left. 96 points from James Halliday. — 2 years ago
Spice on the nose with blackberries. Lots leg. Slightly tart, with burst of cherry and spice. Would definitely get this again.
