Love it when older bottles don’t disappoint. Not the 64 Monfortino, for sure, but not a slacker. — 14 days ago

Red fruits on the nose with light oak, tobacco and chocolate notes.

Medium bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with cherries, plums, currants, light wood, spices, coffee, earth, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, herbs and black pepper.

Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

What a delicious Barolo. Elegant and rich. Complex and interesting. Well balanced with a nice mouthfeel.

The 2019 vintage in Barolo was excellent. This Single Vineyard is particularly unique for the vintage as it is already very approachable.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 20 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 7 years.

Easy drinking right out of the bottle, and good by itself as a sipping wine.

Cascina Francia Barolo Nebbiolo 2005

Quite light ruby , wide garnet , terracotta rim . Fruit forward , with red cherry , strawberry , rose , pomegranate with sweet spices , anis . On the palate lovely sweet cherry , strawberry , light red fruits , crunchy with quite fresh acidity . Polished and sweet , but very present tannins , this is still very young. Saline and sweet spice tinged finish , good length. This is drinking well, however is still very fruit driven and just improved throughout the evening . From now but will improve over the next 5-10 years and last well a further 10, especially in magnum. — a day ago

Riserva Monfortino Barolo Nebbiolo 2008

Second bottle from this vintage that I have enjoyed but this one I purchased from a local wine shop. Opened very nicely after 2.5 hours and enjoyed over 5 hours. Cherry notes were bursting through but mature and deep. Blended wonderfully with the earthiness. This wine is still a baby and think I will do my best to sit on my remaining 2008s for at least 5 more years. — 3 months ago
