Les Chaillées de l'Enfer Condrieu Viognier 2015

Popped, about 1.5 hrs slow ox. Just a hair behind my last btl, which was excellent. Another excellent showing with tangerine and honeysuckle, vanilla cream and lovely minerality...starting to hint at those signs of age I don't like in condrieu, however. For my palate, drink up. — 13 days ago

Clos de la Maréchale Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2012

Incredibly elegant wine with all there is to please. Asian spices, flowers, dark cherries, and a touch of cinnamon. Complex and medium bodied, excellent now but no rush. — 25 days ago

Domaine Robert Chevillon

Nuits-Saint-Georges Pinot Noir 2001

The nose on this is spectacular... expansive, with dark complex red fruit, a rich earthy base and gorgeous floral details. The palate is dull in comparison, but still tasty, with solid plum fruit and a slightly abrupt finish. — 13 days ago

Les Terrasses de l'Empire Condrieu Viognier 2018

Pop and pour. Notes from 4 hrs open. On the nose: freshly cut honeysuckle, then loads of flowers, mint, soft honey and wet stone. On the palate: excellent acidity, wet stone, ginger, medicinal herbs, fantastic density. Better than my last btl...definitely one of my condrieu standards. Yum! — 20 days ago

Rue de Chaux Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2010

We love the style. Purity of fruit, transparency, classicism, not overdone. Black fruits, spices, some of the rusticity of Nuits, medium bodied, ends on an elegant register. Fantastic with food. Great QPR. — 9 days ago

Spices and nice dark and red fruit on the nose and palate, nice balance, medium bodied plus with a soft texture of tannins, good. 89-90

Notes constantes, un beau fruit, des épices, bien équilibré, assez puissant mais sans excès, des tannins approchables et de belle texture. 89-90

Montagne Saint Emilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Really nice nose. Very interesting on the pallet. Starts out with a lot of dark fruit and finishes with quite a bit of tannin. A little more than usual but not off putting it all. — 19 days ago

Chateau Cap St. George

St. Georges-St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Let breathe for 90 minutes--it probably needs more. Brickish-orange rim. Black olive brine on the nose and palate is dominant. Very little fruit remains, some dried mint. Medium minus acidity. Medium alcohol. Blunt tannins. Drink now or forever hold your piece or peace--whichever you are more comfortable with.

Aux Cras Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2016

Absolutely stunning. Quite the contrast to the Colombiere, as this is much more serious and structured and the Aux Cras terroir shines through. New oak is more prevalent, of course, but it’s so integrated already and doesn’t get in the way. The nose is incredibly intense and aromas of dark fruit, sweet spice and a wet rock minerality waft from the glass. While this wine is let’s say, more masculine and less sexy than the Colombiere, there is still a seductive Vosne-like perfume that’s so undeniably CLB and lures you in. The palate is powerful and is full of energy, while at the same time remaining focused and seamlessly delineated. To no surprise length is superior to the Colombiere. Totally irresistible now, but boy this will be a knockout down the road. — 6 days ago

Morgon Gamay 2016

A magnum! A thin/light garnet , edges quite red. Nose of light fruit, maybe pear & strawberry. Medium body- fruits like pear and maybe white peach. On the dry side, low acidity, pretty good! — 17 hours ago
