Saint-Amour Gamay 2018

Dan R
9.0

Sappy, grainy-textured, plump, spicy and meaty, this full-throttled expression will need a year or two to settle down. Bursting at the seams. 2018 bojo personified, on the power side of the power /elegance spectrum. As always, excellent value from Brun. — 8 days ago

FRV 100 Mousseux Gamay Rosé

Cherry, loamy earth, slight grass, color pink ruby, mouth is thick and cough syrupy, finish is a slight thyme grip that fades consistently — 2 months ago

Côte de Brouilly Gamay 2017

Stewed fruit, raisin and molasses on the nose, picking up sweetness on the palate with clove, earth, plum jam and prominent tannins. Lacks the fresh-fruited Beaujolais profile I prefer, but still impressive. — 25 days ago

Le Rosé d'Folie Beaujolais Gamay 2019

Imported by Louis/Dressner Selections
This wine glows salmon pink in the glass, and smells of fresh, ripe strawberries and cherries. On the palate the strawberry takes the lead, while a note of stone fruit slips into the arena. There is a fairly zippy acidity to go along with the flavors. It’s Beaujolais, but bears a striking resemblance to Provençe.

Morgon Gamay 2018

Intensely fruity, charming nose. Confirmed on the palate with notes of ripe strawberries, cherries, floral notes of roses and slightly peppery. Little notes of aging, just the fruit well worked with little addition of sulfur. Beautiful youthful ardor that will certainly age wonderfully.

Moulin-à-Vent Gamay 2017

Always a pleasure to taste the wines of JP Brun. This purple-colored Moulin-à-Vent delivers magnificent airy notes of undergrowth, ash, accompanied by a floral burst of dry roses / peonies; Morello cherry, blackberries. The mouth is very fine. silky tannins testify to a great mastery of winemaking. 2017 vintage begins to « pinote » wonderfully and will win again with a few years in the cellar (for those who enjoy Burdundy style). Reference!
