Miolo

Lote 43 Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 1999

Quite garnet colour , terracotta rim, slightly younger looking than the Lovara, very fine sediment . Slight touch of leather , then spiced cassis , sous bois , coffee, grafite . On the palate quite good sweet dark fruits , with touch of soy sauce , leather , sous bois , dry spices . Good balanced, quite fresh acidity , soft tannins . Medium length and still showing really quite well . At the end of its drinking window so drink now and over the next couple of years — 2 years ago

Taboadella 1255

Reserva Dão Jaén 2021

A medium bodied red from the Jaen (aka Mencia) grape. Quite aromatic with more red fruit than black, a touch of cloves, mint. A bit of turned earth and tree bark. Fresh & quite enticing. Quite Gamay like.
Quite light bodied on the palate, with juicy acidity and nice purity of fruit. Tart, with a slightly bitter note, raspberry & cranberry with a herby finish. Nice length quite a bit of depth.

Quinta da Pellada

Quinta de Saes Dão Tinta Roriz Blend 2017

Had this at chef Avillez’s Bairro in Lisbon’s Chiado neighborhood. First time trying a Dao DOC wine, and it was splendid. Medium bodied, dark fruit and peppery. A nice contrast to the lighter vino verde’s I’ve had a lot of in Portugal. A bottle of this in front of me would be dangerous. — 3 years ago

Dão Touriga Nacional Blend 2017

Can I just say that people who post Matt had the 2017 vintage or Sally had the 2015 are complete assholes. No one has the slightest interest in which vintage you tried if you were too preoccupied or whatever to make interesting or intelligent critique of the wine.

Liked this wine and would buy it again. Tinto. Label doesn't provide the grapes.

From the internet; Made from the traditional grape varieties of the region, Tinta Roriz, Jaen, Alfrocheiro and Touriga Nacional, this is a simple and fruity wine that maintains the freshness and elegance typical of Dão wines.

Casa de Mouraz

Dão White Blend 2023

Has a salty chalky vegetal, bitter, yet yellow fruity thing going on - all over the place. But it calms down with air and food. This isn’t a sipping wine. Paired very well with fish and chips. / edit : I liked this considerably more on day two, more harmonious and complete. Pair with schwarma-spiced grilled chicken thighs and Mediterranean feeeixins. — 4 months ago

Quinta de Lemos

Dona Santana Touriga Nacional Blend 2008

Very tasty aged Portuguese red. If I had it blind, I would guess Northern Spanish - Ribera del Duero or Rioja. Smooth and slightly musty/earthy from the age (got some cork crumbles). Opens pretty quickly, with concentrated red fruit and some blackberry. Pleasant tannic grip with a soft texture. Bold flavor throughout, big body (14.5% abv), some pepper and dry grass on a savory finish. Nice for a reasonable price. — a year ago

Quinta de Lemos

Touriga Nacional 2011

2011 vintage. 100% Touriga Nacional from 12 years old vines. Aged in French barriques for 18 months. Dark red with only a little evolution. Holding back in the nose with timid blackberries violet impressions. Powerful wine with a black fruit a bit monolithic, packed with ripe tannin, while remaining very fresh. Long spicy finish. Might deserve a higher score with more bottle age. — 4 years ago
