Nose of plum, underripe cherry, a lil cranberry, tobacco and crunchy red fruit burst out of the palate of this 13 year old wine. The color shows the age, bricking and pale brown/ruby color indicating some time in the bottle, but the nose and the palate tell no tales. Medium bodied, with crunchy red fruits and well integrated, grippy tannin, this has at least another 10 years before it starts to lose its legs. Great juice. — 10 months ago
Gold hue. Aromas and flavors of apple, apricot, bell pepper, lemon, and petrol, with a hint of grass and creamy notes. Medium body with medium-plus acidity. Silky and rounded mouthfeel. Complex bouquet. Elegant and balanced, with a lasting finish. — 3 years ago
1997 vintage. From a 3L effort. Super youthful on this end with cool fruits and plenty of lushness and little tannic presence. In a 750ml format currently...likely at the top (or close) of the bell curve with properly cellared bottles. Medium-heavy body. Mint. General herbaceousness. Frontal richness. Valrhona chocolate. Almost plushy and seemingly eternal. In a 3L format, will outlive anyone reading this. Sorry, everyone. 10.23.26. — 2 days ago

This is not ready but showing well for only being open an hour and not decanted. It is a wine that really should not be opened until it has had 8-10 yrs plus in the cellar. Not as tight as I imagined but tight.
While it has firm, fine grain tannins. It also shows beautiful & elegance. This is aged in small barriques for 12 months and then another 12 months in large Slavonian casks.
Lightly tart & sour cherries, strawberries, plum, raspberries, dry cigar box, sun to fruit teas, soft old leather, limestone, dry crushed rocks, dry to moist herbs, some white & black pepper, grilled meats, barrel shavings, very light baking spices-clove, nutmeg, vanillin, beautiful Asian spices, some dark, dry soil, pink & red roses for days, beautiful acidity, excellent balance, mid structured-toned, great finesse, elegant finish that sneaks it way to a long even finish that sets on earth & barrel powder.
94-95. Really good but hard to justify at $750. — 4 months ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of dinner. The 2006 Bussia Riserva pours a deep garnet color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears and a good bit of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with heady notes of Morello cherry, an entire shop of red roses, tar, curaçao, truffle, talcum powder, cedar chest, dried green herbs and gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. What a brilliant showing with so much life left. Drink now (but maybe decant off the sediment immediately before service) through 2046. — 3 months ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2024 CCC pours a deep, ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity, with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with attractive, fresh notes of crunchy blackberries, black plum, lavender pastilles, Kiwi fruit, black pepper, crushed rock and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and mineral laden. So fresh and easy to love. Drink now through 2034. — 7 months ago

Poured into a decanter for about an hour prior to service; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2023 RTW CCC pours a deep ruby/purple color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of mixed brambles, purple flowers, Fig Newtons, black pepper, dried green herbs, and silica rich, rocky earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and comes across like laser cut steel. Drink now with patience through 2038. — 8 months ago

Dense purple red. Aromas of caramel, vanilla. Flavors of blueberry, blackberry, eucalyptus on finish. Moderate to strong skin astringency, mild seed bitterness on finish. Light crispness, high pigment extraction yet light to moderate alcohol given its tannin structure. 13.5% alc/vol. Age worthy but I enjoyed it “young”. A special wine to lay down and taste periodically so buy several bottles if you can. After two or three hours, mineral character emerges throughout the middle and finish. A mild tar-like flavor and muddied tannin persist in the finish and aftertaste. Finally the berry flavors recede into a more integrated mildly tart fruitiness. Interesting dynamics. It’s not a fast fade, rather something more savory and structured emerges — 2 days ago
