Château de Montfaucon

Comtesse Madeleine Blanc Côtes du Rhône Lirac White Rhone Blend 2018

Nice blend for the price.

Barrel-fermented and aged in mostly older oak, the 2018 Lirac Blanc Comtesse Madeleine is a blend of 40% Marsanne, 35% Clairette, 20% Grenache Blanc, and 5% Picpoul.

An 88-acre estate, Château de Montfaucon sits just across the Rhône River from the esteemed vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It is owned and operated by Rodolphe de Pins, a UC Davis graduate and former member of the winemaking staff at Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe.

Comtesse Madeleine de Montfaucon Côtes du Rhône Clairette 2016

Palmer Emmitt
9.1

Flinty minerality, orange peel and a distinct and intense shot of herbes de Provence. The lack of fruit might leave you wondering where the 93 point RPWA score came from, but this is a focused, unique, and mind-bending wine from 140+ year old vines. Pairs awesomely with French fries. — 5 months ago

L'Arsouille Chenin Blanc 2016

Fantastic central coast blend from vista verde William selyem’s vineyard in San Benito and south monterey county fruit from scheid or San bernabe. Honey tropical lanolin high toned but balanced. No obnoxious aspects. — 6 months ago

La Baronnie Madeleine Chinon Cabernet Franc 2007

Black currant, bell pepper, mushroom, wet leafs and leather. Medium tannin, a bit integrated. Thin and a bit short. Not a big vintage to hold for long, but a lot of wine for hardly any money. — 2 months ago
