"after harvesting from vines with deep roots in the rocky soil on the banks of the Mayuco river, Raul and his brother Alvaro chose to go organic and use no oak, letting this stallion of a wine rip with spice, pepper and ripe fruit. Mineral notes hit once on the palate followed by a long finish." — 2 years ago

Great funk and strong finish. — 4 years ago
Tried twice. Blend of 67% Cab Sauv and 33% Merlot, bigger Cab% in ‘17. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, oak and spice. On the palate flavors of fresh blackberry, plum and currants with licorice and cigar box spice adding some cedar and slight floral notes. Fine ripe tannins, long finish ending with layers of fruit, cedar and spice. A joy to drink. Opening now but will last another decade+. Nice! — 5 years ago

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading John WILLIAMS (Violin Concerto No. 2, written specifically for the intended soloist this evening) featuring the violin virtuoso, Anne-Sophie Mutter, STRAUSS (Death and Transfiguration, Opus 24) and then RAVEL (La Valse). — 3 years ago
Delicious and super tart apple ice cider fortified with apple@brandy I think this would be great for guests. Tart enough to make your cheeks squirm. — 6 years ago
Had the ‘16 about a year ago, tried again. For more than 4 decades, the Chappellet family has been crafting wines from fruit cultivated on steep, rocky slopes of Napa’s Pritchard Hill. Aged 8 months on French oak, (33% new) in its lees. Aromas of ripe stone fruits, citrus, honey & oaky scents. On the palate layers of fruit, apple, lemon & peach with balanced acidity & gentle toasty oak. Long smooth finish ending with fruit and oak tones, a bit creamy. Very well done. A joy to drink. Still tasting great! — 6 years ago

Graciously gifted to Holly and I by Pierre and Mathilde Demets. Popped and enjoyed directly from the bottle, on the streets of Paris, in celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary. “Intransigeance” is a fabulous cuvée made from a combination of selected fruit from both “La Forêt” in Gŷe-sur-Seine and “Fins” in Neuville-sur-Seine; 67% Pinot Noir and 33% Chardonnay. No formal notes due to the setting but I can confidently state that the 2018 vintage is utterly delicious. We laughed and reveled as we took pulls under the Eiffel Tower and walked to lunch through the 7th and 6th. We had a blast. Disgorged July 6, 2023. Only 7306 bottles made. We need more Intransigeance, please @Lyle Fass ! — 7 months ago
Tasting the 1990 Léoville Las Cases just a few days after the 1989, it is clear which is the best vintage…this one. It has a sublime nose of melted black fruit, tar, cedar and bay leaf that shrugs off the heat of that summer better than most others. At 33 years of age, you could just lose yourself in these aromatics. The palate is clearly holding up well: beautifully defined and supple yet with typical Las-Cases backbone and depth. It builds magnificently in the glass toward a harmonious finish that reminds me of the 1985 in terms of its fleshiness. Wonderful. Tasted at the Lia's Wings/book dinner at Medlar restaurant. A delicious left bank Bordeaux which greatly beneifted from a 60+ minute decant. The nose presents fig jam & blueberry along with notes of anise, cocoa, and pencil lead. The palate is impressively well balanced with flavors of blueberry and blackberry along with tertiary notes of sage & leather along with well integrated tannins and a bright acidity. Paired equally well with both filet mignon on day 1 & burgers on day 2! ($33) [5/27/22] — 4 years ago
Blend: 33% Cab Sauv, 32% Merlot, 18% Cab Franc & 17% Petit Verdot, aged in oak for 15 months, dark Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits, floral and spicy earthy notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, dark cherry and plum, herb spice, cacao and cedar notes. Fine tight tannins, long finish, ending with fruit, spice, cedar and earthy notes. Very nice, needs time, decant if you most open, will age beautifully! — 5 years ago

2014 vintage. This Cab Franc effort coming together nicely after a decade+. Couple that with a $33 a bottle resto cost and you've got a winner. Some chunk. Some polish. Some intrigue. Some deal. 6.3.26. — 21 days ago
