First thought it had rolled down that hill but after 15 min it opened up and bloomed. With that surprising profile of autumnal forest with just a hint of long ripened fruits expected of Beaujolais, almost like a prune. Then realized I’d had this twice already over three years ago! Distinctive wine from the region, who said it’d be good for 6-8 years!? — 2 months ago
Lovely Thivin. So clearly Beaujolais from the nose which carries through the palate. Decanted 6 hours which I’d suggest at this stage. Lacking just a hint of that acid driven refreshing note on the finish. Still delicious and a great pairing with roast chicken with mushrooms to herald the (near) arrival of fall. — 3 months ago
Cherry, hay, earth, Cola... Typical nose that I now associate with cru Morgon. It feels young and like it could wait on the side for another 3 to 5 years 😅
The palate is delicious. There is a great acid drive, there is some width, some lovely, crunchy (somehow) cherry notes, some tannins in the rear that are not so common in Beaujolais cru wines, before a long and complex finish with different layers : cherry and hay, that tannic layer and a reminiscence of the nose with a Cola touch. This is great and it will probably get better with some age! — 17 days ago
Delicious, very gamey, meaty, earthy and funky Gamay from Brouilly by Château Thivin. With cheese, crackers and olives, so far. — 3 months ago
Almost to the day at the same restaurant we had Jean foillard corcellette which started this great Beauj extravaganza. This is fruity but with a bite of almost rhubarb. Almost a little underripe according to my wife. In the style of the foillard see have had. Fruit but there is a layer underneath so it adds complexity in layers with the fruit that fights the one dimensional new world overextracted fruit. Less elegant than the corcellette but super fun and joyous with enough seriousness to keep you very excited for the next sip. Non filtration continues to save the day. Highly recommended for joyous Beauj. — a month ago

This wine stole the show at Friendsgiving. I brought the bottle but it was so good I wanted to drink it all myself! Red berry fruit forward without overpowering tannins. The acidity was just right for our lovely meal. Overall I’d say I’ll be retuning to this bottle regularly for special occasions. Great smell and aftertaste. — 9 days ago
