Clos Bertrand Côte de Brouilly Gamay 2020

Lyle Fass

The four single vineyards are my favorite Beaujolais done in the classic style. If doesn’t get better than these 4. Clos Bertrand is perhaps the most accessible and is such a joy. Stunning nose of spicecake, granite, red and black berry fruit, earth and flowers. So pure and vivid. These wines are so clean. Palate is ripe and tangy with excellent precision and detail. Lean-ish with lovely sweet fruit and purity. Linear. So juicy with such fine grained tannins and such impressive length. This oozes class. Amazing fruit saturation on the finish. So long. Brilliant. — 2 months ago

Côte du Py Morgon Gamay 2015

Wax seal nonsense aside….this Morgon is worth the aggravation to pull the cork. — 16 days ago

Ahah these wax seals seem to be so divisive. There are real afinicianados (I am) and fierce opponents. I enjoy the fact that I don't have to remove anything before pulling my corkscrew through. One step quicker to the wine 🍷

And of course, great pull, this is my favourite vintage of this one so far

Domaine des Terres Dorées (Jean-Paul Brun)

Côte de Brouilly Gamay 2019

Soft and ready to drink now, has loads of soft, sultry cherry fruit and a smoky, stony component in the nose. Ripe and soft in the mouth, with a friendly whack of fruit up front, turning minerally in the back half, where a little tannin sneaks in. — 2 months ago

Brouilly Gamay 2018

Lovely gamay Beaujolais, really turned great after an hour plus. Has that muddy consistency I love in a Beauj. Definitely needs an hour to open before handling food. Been awhile since I’ve had the Morgons but I think rivals them. Maybe the best KL import I’ve had? — 20 days ago
