The label is barely there, but i bought in the James Halliday's collection auction as a Wood Matured Black label 1979.
At this stage I opened a few of these old semillon and I am honestly loving them even though i realise that not everyone would.
Once they get to room temperature the magic happens.
This is complex and fairly fresh, not gone at all.
I smell almond, bruised apples, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric, lanolin, coriander. Autumn forest floor and boiled chestnuts. Nougat and marzipan. Peppermint.
It's very long. It's an experience. It talks its own language. I don't think there is anything like it anywhere else. 41yo, nearly my age, but much more interesting than me. — 10 days ago
Ok, she got me to do Orin Swift tonight. Mercury Head. A lot of fruit. A lot of structur. Mild nose with a hint of fruit. Moderate tannin, but not overbearing. Heavier weight mouth feel. Nice finish. - we did BYOB — 6 days ago
Great blend, dark fruit, and dry finishing!
Awesome dark blend!! — 4 days ago
Lovely nose, white orchard fruit, freshly cut herbs, On the palate typical warm-climate SB, Good freshness when served right from the fridge. Alas, the finish is slightly marred by an abundance of citrus peel bitterness and alcoholic heat (15,5% ABV...)

Only cork. Only nose. Only color. Full and ripe. Red currant, black raspberry, sweet black plum, roses. Needed the steak, or the steak needed this wine!? — 18 days ago
Fresh, lush & quite hedonistic, black fruit galore with a whiff of herbs & spice. + a touch of leather & roast and a pinch of black pepper. Velvety & plush on the palate but the juicy acidity balances it perfectly. This is scary drinkable and disappears faster then you’d think and despite the unnoticeable 15-% alc.
Delicious stuff. — 7 hours ago
