Bailly Lapierre

Marcel Lapierre

Morgon Gamay 2018

Only one bottle left... That strong nose with violet, cherry, hay, iron... Who couldn't love that? There is a huge acid backbone with a good width, a soft mouthfeel, a big bright ripe cherry note, a huge power house of a mid palate with tickling tannins that tend to dry up a bit a huge finish with cherry and even cherry spirit notes. That's probably my favorite kind of wine here — 16 days ago

Château Haut-Bailly

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1988

A very balanced wine in his late secondary evolution. Lots of fruit left, civilized tannins, medium bodied and much better than most 88s we had. Good now but really no rush. Excellent bottle !! — a month ago

I just tried this and like you alongside some other Lapierre crus. I really didn’t get on with it and you have me thinking my bottle must have been dud or I missed something here. I actually preferred both the Cuvee Marcel Lapierrea and straight Morgon. Interesting, thanks for your note.

Cuvée Marcel Lapierre Morgon Gamay

More structured than the basic Morgon and I think will develop into the better wine of given a few years. — a month ago
