I had no idea that Portugal did so many amphora aged wines! I've been really impressed with the quality of these whites; again no sulfites and unfiltered for the most part. Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico Frappato Nero d'Avola 2012

Nero d'Avola and Frappato in roughly equal measure aged in clay amphora. Cherry as the name indicates indeed, as well as strawberry immediately and currants with 2 or so hours of air. A lot of floral notes up front reminded me of Barolo, especially with the mineral notes and the silky, but firm tannins. This is the best wine in a while for me from Sicily not from Mt. Etna.
