Rich and smooth/velvety. Awesome red fruit. Light but depth. Drank at mahogany with Smiths. Love this. — a year ago

Since we celebrated Thanksgiving on the past Saturday with our immediate family, we decided to enjoy lunch today at Willie G’s. Great seafood deserves an appropriate wine. Today we had a wonderful Grillo from Sicily. Grillo is the grape used to meme Marsala wine. The wine we enjoyed today was bone dry. The color is the first thing that gets you. It was the color of a Pilsner beer. The nose gave off hints of smoked almonds and honey. On the pallet I picked up nutty flavors backed by baked apples and some minerality. The wine had a lingering finish and stood up well to blackened red snapper. All in all a very enjoyable wine. — 5 years ago
First encounter with sparkling sake at Senyu near UH with Willie. Omakase and excellent. Sake very dry but paired nicely with the variety offered. Bubbles effective as palate cleanser! — 6 years ago
Lovely golden sparkle to this amazing Sherry, from Bodegas Tradición. Aromas of buttery caramel, toffee, and pecans, with a hint of something fruity and sweet, like orange marmalade. Super smooth body/mouthfeel with ripe acidity. An incredibly long length that takes you through many stages of flavor, like the ever-changing bubblegum in Willie Wonka. From Candied oranges to pecan pie, to buttered toast and finally bitter almond. But you don’t turn into a blueberry at the end, like in the movie, or at least I didn’t! — 8 years ago

Tame is the right word. This Barolo is moving out of its wild youth, but can still age some. Soft fruit and new leather, a little sage. Tannins are mellow, decanted for 2 hours. Paired with pork medallions in a basil cream sauce. Good pairing.

sake of Kaiseki dinner at Naza GiroGiro with willie. Last sake and said to be best. Less fruity but complex with a note of sharpness and a bite that went well with the complicated duck dish. — 2 years ago
One of the nicest chocolate stouts I have had. A great brew from those traditional and skilled chaps at Samuel Smiths. — 3 years ago
So light, touch of acidity as common with Albariño but only lightly, then almost a light creamy finish. Floral but like other flavours very light and all smiths out to a clean fresh finish. — 6 years ago
Nice champagne, though not the best QPR. Granny Smiths are very present, thought not as laser focused as I’d like. Yeast, brioche, check. Finding it an easy drinker with fine pearls, but not mind blowing. — 7 years ago
Ahh...the lightest, crisp yet buttery chard you ever did taste. Gift from the Smiths. — 8 years ago
Drank with blueberry cheesecake at broken bow with the smiths. Really light but excellent. Not cloying at all. Lighter than other d’Arche, but really like with the cheesecake. — 3 months ago
Delicate nose of lemons and limes. Nice balanced mouthfeel with Granny Smiths and pears. Moderate weight and finish, with moderate acidity make this a great value buy.

Sachet with Smiths and Brooks. Nice medium body with dry finish. — 2 years ago
At Vietnamese with Willie. Blew him away as to middle of the road medium in all aspects and very drinkable. Great with the food — 2 years ago
Runner-up for Wine Of The Night but definitely the pleasant surprise of the night. Little funky nose and not particularly effervescent for a sparkler. Acidity is muted and feels like a “real wine” as opposed to those chemically enhanced science experiments that pass for luxury wine life in some quarters. Definitely would serve this to my most discerning guests like @Sam Shepard @Brendan Devine and if I could be so blessed, the GOATs of the wine world like @Ron R @Mike R @Willie Carter, a little something off the beaten path. — 5 years ago

Fruity with enough acidity to match perfectly with a seafood dinner at Willie G's. — 7 years ago
Big Wave Dave
Exceptional chardonnay with the latent power of a GC burgundy, but with salinity and tannic grip. Beautiful nose with reductive gunsmoke, apple, and baking spices. The structure is the perfect fit for the intense and powerful flavour bomb: lemon merengue pie, smoke, tangerine, all in perfect balance. The concentration and length are world class. As long as I can remember of ANY wine I have tasted. World class for A$90 — 3 months ago
