This wine is full bodied with a smooth silky mouthfeel medium to medium+ acidity and medium fine tannins that moves into a long dark fruit earthy finish. Continued great weekend with safe and healthy thoughts to each of you. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 3 years ago
Color is a deep purple garnet with a touch of bricking. Nose—bursts with blackberry, floral and cedar with green veggies, vanilla, smoky menthol, and cedar lingering. Taste—classic Bordeaux: silky, smooth and a medium plus body flavors of plum, stewed meat, minerals and smoked cedar. Lingered tastes of tobacco and subtle vanilla giving it moderate dry finish. A fantastic luscious wine to drink on a nice semi-warm Labor Day weekend evening. — 4 years ago

On the nose is the distinct aromas of lime, grapefruit, white peach, guava herbal notes, grass and pear.

This is a medium bodied wine with a cleanfresh mouth watering mothfeel medium+ acidity and a lind crusp citrus lime grapefruit finish. A wonderful wine for the money. Looks like the weekend should be a good one with some crisp cool weather. Wish you an eventful weekend. Please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂 — 2 years ago
After a coffee chat at work yesterday that ended discussing Hillside Select I was motivated to open one for the holiday weekend. Initially I was very disappointed as the wine was flat and uninspiring considering the pedigree and price tag. Read some reviews that this 2013 needs A LOT of air and sure enough after hours the wine began to evolve and markedly improve. It is an intense wine that lingers in the mouth for a long time. Smooth tannins, red fruit and tobacco flavors. Not my most favorite wine and not at the $229 I paid, but nonetheless a very good wine once it had the chance to get some air for a few hours — 4 years ago
Today I have decided to go to my cellar and pull the 2012 Domaine Berrien Cellars Crown of Cab. One of the best winery's in Southwest Michigan if not the best. This is a Bordeaux blend of 40% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec. What a wine from Wally Mauer and the Domaine Berrien winery.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, anise, violet, baking spice and crushed gravel.
On the palate I am getting black cherry, blackberries, green bell pepper, black currant, violet, black pepper, graphite and earth.
This wine is full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel, medium to medium + acidity and medium + grippy mouthcoating tannins that leaves you with a long black fruit woodsy finish. What a wonderful Sunday wine. This winery in Southwest Michigan is my absolute favorite and can compete with any California winery out there. I hope everyone's weekend has been an eventful one. Please stay safe and healthy and have a wonderful week ahead. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 4 years ago
