Hillside Select is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 32 months in 100% new 60-gallon French oak barrels. Deep Ruby with pronounced aromas of red/black fruits, with hints of cedar, floral, oak, herbs & spice. On the palate flavors of concentrated ripe blackberry, cherry and raspberry preserves, pepper spice, leather and earthy cacao. Fine savory tannins, well balanced, long finish, great structure ending with fruit, spice, oak and earthy mineral character. Outstanding!

Awesome 2013 Hillside Cab. Tried at Winebows Awesome Tasting @ Metropolitan Pavilion. Wow! Big rich full bodied with loads of black fruits. Soft tannin structure full bodied. CB 98. Only so much cheap wine a person can take. The 13 is definitely not feminine in style.
I’ve been eye balling this for months now.
Down to my 2005 & 12 stock wise. This I could drink everyday, needs hours of decant per norm.
Grab a glass re cork then decant 4 hours on the 2nd day.
I’ve had 92,03,05,06,07,08,11 & 12
Only so much cheap wine a person can take. The 13 is definitely not feminine in style.

After a coffee chat at work yesterday that ended discussing Hillside Select I was motivated to open one for the holiday weekend. Initially I was very disappointed as the wine was flat and uninspiring considering the pedigree and price tag. Read some reviews that this 2013 needs A LOT of air and sure enough after hours the wine began to evolve and markedly improve. It is an intense wine that lingers in the mouth for a long time. Smooth tannins, red fruit and tobacco flavors. Not my most favorite wine and not at the $229 I paid, but nonetheless a very good wine once it had the chance to get some air for a few hours

This wine is outstanding! I tasted a bit pop and pour and knew it was special. It started out bright fruit and floral. I left it alone for two hours and then drank through the evening. Outstanding. It is delicate with red and blue fruit, yet dense and complex. Floral, bright fruit, and chocolate? on the nose. I took it outside on a 90 degree humid, MN afternoon and the nose got even more intense. I will do this on purpose again.
