This was a great deal. Fun fruity and with a balance on the back end. To be honest I could see this being a New Zealand sayv Blanc perhaps but I would imagine it to be 2x the cost this was. Maybe it’s my adoration of German wines highly recommended for the price — a year ago

I still struggle with the idea of oak and Riesling - I guess it’s an old Germanic thing. M minus acid. Quite sweet the next day although essentially dry at 12.5% ABV. — 2 years ago
Tonight I have opened the 2018 Château D'Aiguilhe Comtes von Neipperg. From Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux on the Right Bank. Blend of 80%Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose is black cherry, black plum, black raspberry, green bell pepper, black olive, herbaceous notes, mocha and cedar.
On the palate there is black cherry, black raspberry, plum, black currant, green bell pepper, herbs and cedar.
A beautiful medium to full bodied wine with a silky and succulent mouthfeel with medium + acidity and medium + fine tannins that has a long dark black and blue fruit finish. The 2020 Müller-Thurgau Feldmarschall von Fenner bursts from the glass with a captivating mix of nectarine and lemon zest complicated by crushed rocks and curry leaves. This is texturally deep, flowing across the palate like pure silk. A saline mineral perfectly contrasts core citrus-tinged orchard fruits and ripe melon. The word salty doesn’t do this justice, as the 2020 finishes distinctively savory and intensely spicey, reverberating with residual acids that keep the mouth watering for more. Another genius nose the the Baden Master of Wine. So stoney with oodles of pit fruits. Clean and expansive nose with huge minerals and an airy cloud like ephemerality. Gorgeous elite grapiness as well but this is a young nose that is a bit unformed but one can see the genius here. This will take a bit to unfurl. Some herbals and sugar snap peas develop as well. Complex and juicy but so reserved right now. The length and depth let one know this has a lot to say even if it is quiet right now. Very very persistent with vivid fruit skin details.
The nose is coming alive now with a scents of grape skins, herbs, forest floor, rubber and tree bark. So complex. What an unfurling. Palate has classic bee sting. A honeyed richness followed by acid that collects on the tip of the tongue. This so fruit skin focused and pure. So so unique and delicious but it needs more time. I will be back.

Gorgeously poignant mineral nose. Lemon, lemon flower. Closed but it’s all there. Direct mineral essence that goes straight up your nose. Yellow flowers, wild mint, melon, green possibly orange. Wow the mint, Really intense and expansive. Palate is so silky and my goodness what a mineral explosion. Round and yet so mineral. Wow. This is mindblowing. So juicy and compact. Amazing, wine of the collection mouthfeel and a finish that just keeps pumping the most intense and mouth caressing minerals. The nose is such a round, mineral bomb. Omg the fruit is coming out. Tangelo, red grapefruit, kumquat. Not a loud wine but a serene, gentle wine that has not one hair out of place. This is becoming the signature wine of the estate. 19/21/22 all perfect or near perfect wines. Wow what a silky texture and just perfect balance. Salty finish. Let’s see what air does. Sensational. As this opens the nose becomes crazy confectionary. The palate is silky, textured, dense and superbly balanced and pure but seems to be closing. But what a finish. — a year ago
