Côtes de Castillon Red Bordeaux Blend
Dark ruby with near black core. Abundant nose of cassis and black plum. Medium full palate yields black plum, tarry black cherry, and a hint of graphite. Fine (medium) tannins and juicy medium plus acidity. A nice step up from the "everyday" Bordeaux from the Comptes von Neipperg portfolio. Take it out or drink it in with beef stew, roast tenderloin, root vegetables, and other semi-rustic fare. Drink now through 2026.

Apr 4th, 2022Tonight I have opened the 2018 Château D'Aiguilhe Comtes von Neipperg. From Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux on the Right Bank. Blend of 80%Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose is black cherry, black plum, black raspberry, green bell pepper, black olive, herbaceous notes, mocha and cedar.
On the palate there is black cherry, black raspberry, plum, black currant, green bell pepper, herbs and cedar.
A beautiful medium to full bodied wine with a silky and succulent mouthfeel with medium + acidity and medium + fine tannins that has a long dark black and blue fruit finish.
