The 2016 ‘Two Barns’ is another gorgeous wine by the superstar winemaking team of Domaine Serene. On the nose there is really good range from deep dark fruits to forest floor and shades of dark truffle that all connect in the glass. The palate shows excellent weight with a sumptuous mouthfeel. Black tea, blackberry cobbler and earthy tones with light citrus rind accents all collide on the palate. A long-ager, this beautiful wine will cellar well over the next fifteen to twenty years. Crunchy, vibrant Pinot. 12.55% ABV (woot!) Unfined, unfiltered. This is Brian’s style of wine, a style I’m happy to drink. But, my resident non-credentialed wine drinker said: “It looks like a Pinot, but it doesn’t taste like a Pinot....”
There’s some candied cherry fruit for sure, but grippy minerals and green veggies make this a different animal. Could easily be confused with cru Beaujolais. — 12 days ago
A fruit forward Cabernet Sauvignon from Israel.
Showing black fruits with earth, wood, spices, vegetables, light vanilla, tobacco, peppercorn, espresso, chocolates and bell pepper.
Full bodied, smooth and elegant, with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Nice length on the finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
Very enjoyable by itself or with food. Needs a couple of hours to open up properly and show some tannins.
Could use a few more years in the bottle to mature and remove some of the vegetable notes.
I had it a couple of years ago and it was very austere, now it is very drinkable although still young.
Aged for 24 months in New French oak barrels.
14% alcohol by volume.

2011 Vintage. 12.9% Alcohol. Thin and weedy in past times opening and not worthy of a TN, now finally getting better although still thin. Taking on a brick rim so I would say now is the drinking window. A Garagiste special deal that was not so special. Bought 6 and this is the third one opened with dismal results on the prior two. Better after airing for an hour. @jason carey DipWSET time to try one again from your case if you still have them. — 2 days ago
Wow. This is whole cluster fermentation at its finest. Crazy wine. Deep crimson pour, really really young. Grape stem shows up on the nose along with an herbal influenced, sweet black cherry and cola that also transitioned to the open and middle. Herbal. This wine is substantial. Medium to full bodied pinot, and will go for ages. Raspberry and black cherry to the finish. I'm really impressed by this pinot, but I wonder if the QPR isn't a bit high for what this is. — 7 hours ago
