La Crau de ma Mère Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2017

Stylistically, this is very recognisably Chateauneuf-du-Pape, with a very rich, intense and saturated bouquet of blueberry, steeped plum and liquorice, with dollops of garrigue, hoisin sauce and some gamey notes that help contribute to a simultaneously sweet & savoury profile. Archetypal stuff. At just three years of age, this has all the hallmarks of a young wine from this AOC - the oldest in France - with plenty of acidity, spice and firm tannins. A little hot on the finish at 15% abv. Very enjoyable, and should suit mid-term ageing. — 5 days ago

Château Le Grand Moulin

Collection Grande Réserve Blaye Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

2018 vintage. Another spectacular value from the Côtes de Bordeaux, this time from Blaye. From 79 hectares of vines on sandy gravel soils. A blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet sauvignon and 5% Malbec. Again I feel sorry for owner Jean François Reaud that he has to sell such a good wine at silly prices (4,95 euro consumer price!). Even at twice the price it would be great value. Subtle nose with ripe black (blueberries, cassis) and red fruits (raspberry) with a subtle floral touch. The taste is amazingly elegant, the fruit is fresh and crisp, with a good soft tannic backbone, some complexity, moderate alcohol (abv. 13%) and very good length. Extraordinary value. Château Rocher Bellevue

Côtes de Castillon Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

2017 vintage. The Côtes de Bordeaux is a fantastic playground for value seekers and this Castillon is no exception. To be honest I feel sorry for owner Patricia Aroldi that she has to sell a biodynamical wine of this quality at such a low price (4,95 euro consumer price, I kid you not!). A blend of 86% merlot and 14% cabernet franc. Bright red fruit and flowers in the nose. Good fruit concentration and ripe tannin structure with vibrant acidity and more than decent length. Very easy to drink now, but this should age well for a few years. Highly recommended. Abv. 13%. Vignobles Gabriel & co. — 11 days ago

I agree Stefan, wrong distribution channel 🤨

It just shows that it is not that easy to sell lesser known Bordeaux regions. And contrary to the image, Bordeaux produces some of the greatest values in the world.

It must be frustrating if you want to invest in making quality wine that there are price barriers linked to the place/region

I just love these wines. Elegant and polished. It has that garrigue and has been an important part of my life. I am sad that this is my last bottle. — a month ago
