Rubicon Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2015

The wine served tonight is the 2016 Meerlust Rubicon Cabernet Sauvignon Blend. This is from the Meerlust Estate Stellenbosch, South Africa. The blend is 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.

On the nose there is cherry, strawberry, plum, green bell pepper, herbal notes, vanilla, licorice, minerals and dark rich soil.

On the palate I am getting black cherry, blackberry, strawberry, black currant, licorice, green bell pepper, vanilla, some oak, minerality and soil.

The wine is full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium + grippy mouthcoating tannins that leaves you with a ling black fruit mineral finish. Eventhough we are still in the in the midst of fall, there is a feel of winter crisp and clean on ones face. The Mentors Canvas Shiraz Blend 2017

Nice complexity but with extremely soft tannins. Aromas and flavors of raspberry, cranberry, dark chocolate, violets, pencil shavings, leather and sweet spices. Lovely herbal component on the finish. Bright and pure with vibrant acidity. Full bodied but well balanced. Quite good. — 12 days ago

Sons of Sugarland Stellenbosch Syrah 2019

This is a serieus Syrah from SA, whole bunch fermented stuff. There a lot of energy in this wine, tons of red berries, roses and fine young herbs, a little salty and very very juicy. Really good stuff with in the finish great powdery tannins. Love it! — 11 days ago

Organic Chenin Blanc 2019

Fresh and exotic with ripe peach, papaya, a hint of ginger. A touch of reduction adds a nice edge.
On the palate this is rounded from the foudres aging but the nice saline acidity balanced it perfectly. Papaya, peach and ginger plus a mineral bedrock.
Fresh & juicy with a creamy aftertaste of first nougat, then lemongrass and a salty spray.
Delicious drinking.
