Red Riesling. So relaxed and fine that it’s difficult to notice how masterfully it’s been raised. Cranberry and raspberry, with none of the stewed, cola, birch notes that wreck so many Oregon Pinots. Exceptional. — 5 years ago

First taste (just after opening the bottle) hit like a freight train.

Cullen Mangan at 18 years - superbly delicious and reintegrated compared to where it was at 10 years old. The Malbec and Petit Verdot still seem to oxidize at different rates upon opening, but each stop on the train is interesting and delicious. At about an hour out it is scrumptious. Continuing on the Rhone train today! This is a delightful Lirac - full-bodied, ripe and rich with soft tannins. 45/40/15 GSM blend, so a high percentage of Syrah which really gives the wine it’s character. Made by the Cave de Vigneron de Tavel (the co-op). Many wines made by co-ops are extremely good these days. Just look at Produttori in Barbaresco! This is approachable now and delightful to drink. Red, resinous currant with a licorice twist. Warm blackberry, dark toast, vanilla, cedar and sweet tabac seamlessly tailored, even at such a young age. Fresh gingerbread oven, too. Silk suit of tannins; loose stitching.
