Double-decanted about two hours prior to service. The 2007 Galitzine pours a deep garnet color with a slightly tawny color towards the rim; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining and some signs of fine sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with ripe and slightly desiccated black fruits: blackberries, currants, black cherry, tobacco, chocolate, leather, earth, some vanilla and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acidity. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is long and pretty decadent. Considering the vintage, this had held up pretty well and even though it’s not really my style, it’s executed well. Drink now with a decant and through 2027. It might go longer but I don’t have enough experience with QC to understand the aging arc. There’s certainly no shortage of fruit. — 23 days ago

From a 5 Bordeaux grape blend: 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 2.5% Cabernet Franc, 2.3% Petit Verdot & 0.3% Malbec, aged 24 months French oak, 85% new, Deep Ruby with aromas of ripe dark fruits, cedar and floral spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry, black cherry and currants with notes of herbs, pepper spice and earthy notes. Fine sweet tannins, long finish ending with cacao, smoky oak, fruit and mineral tang. Very nice, aging well, but time will reward! — 9 days ago

Really special bottle nearly sabotaged by the waiter’s feeble attempts at coping with the cork. Stellar and refined, still not really at its peak after three hrs but sublime. Would love to drink a bottle over a couple of days. Winemaker evidently says that the bottles take a minimum of 30 yrs to come to maturity. First bottling was 1982! — 6 hours ago

I bought this as a test, given that we normally drink the regular Outpost cab. We find no perceptible difference between the True and the regular. Stick with the regular and enjoy the value.

A Burgundian-styled Cab Sauv from the one of the most compelling Sub AVA of Napa mountains (Mayacamas) which has an amazing soil and solid influence from the Pacific. Crafted with an amazing balance of 68% Cab Sauv, 20% Merlot, 5% and the rest to round it off its structure and age ability. The 2011 is still climbing to its peak. Enticing notes of dry red fruits on the nose and mouth, delicate, outstandingly silky and nearly perfect balance!
The finish shows its beauty. (if you find it, it won’t disappoint you) it will give the run for the money. — 6 days ago

Classic. Treasure found at the local wine shop for a deal. Beautiful Napa cab nose full of blue/darkfruit. You notice the blend on the palate - cab franc, petit verdot, merlot and a bit of malbec. Just really well put together. Going to venture out and get more tomorrow. — 19 days ago
