Another 4th Friday for the books, and one of the best of the year!

Dusty and new leather on the nose, cassis too; aromatically this showed its age, but the palate is very youthful. Dusty plum, black licorice, graphite and tobacco. Hard to tell if this is falling off or just shutting down for a period.

Oh my, this was outstanding!

Ripe and rich. Tobacco and cedar.

Tart and ripe. Lean balance.

Typical Spring Mountain, throwing lots of sediment. But so tasty you want to chew it.

Bloody good.

Just opened this evening. 05 SM Napa Cab is outstanding. Black fruit, eucalyptus, cocoa...soft tannins...feminine and restrained.

Tart cherries, cassis and floral notes. Dusty, leathery with lots of chewy sediments. Still youthful compared to the 2001. Wonderful winery with a beautiful estate. If you have ever seen Falcon Crest, you should definitely visit SM.

Spring is here again, tender age in bloom.
