Fattoria dei Barbi (Colombini)

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2012

At Coci Northpark San Diego. The wine. Food excellent. Very very difficult to evaluate. I think they used too much oak on this. Ridiculous big and tannic even after 12 years. And after 90 minutes. I tough it is corked at first and even at 60min. Tobacco, cigar box. Touch cherry hint of prune plum. And better with a t-bone than with the light Italian food.I think they really overdid it to please - May be Robert Parker - at the time? Give it at least 2 hours to breathe before serving!!!! — 19 days ago

Uccelliera

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2013

Medium bodied, firmly structured and rather energetic, it sports a reserved and savory profile of aromatic wild herbs and spicy underbrush fruit.

As it warmed up in the stemware, it began to better display a balanced structure with vibrant acidity and fine grained tannins. The finish is juicy and long.

Tenuta Sette Ponti

Oreno Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2015

This Super Tuscan or Bordeaux blend was fantastic. At the 10 year mark its shedding its baby fat and becoming an oppulant wine. Deep red Hue with red fruit and silky tannins. Long Finish. Can't wait to try again — 15 days ago

Valdicava

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2006

Particularly earthy and elegant, the 2006 Valdicava Brunello displays a dark primary fruit appearance, but in its nineteenth year, it has clearly evolved from a dense, fruit bomb into a more refined pour with gentle and teasing tertiary aromas and flavors.

It is soft, flavorful, medium bodied, still well structured with light tannins and brisk acidity, and reveals interesting and savory notes of baking spices, dried fruits, nuts and herbal underbrush. The finish is long and satisfying. Aficionados of well aged wines, this is for you!

Masseto

Toscana Merlot 2008

+1 hour decant(lots of sediment). A gorgeous dark purplish magenta color. On the nose: very aeromatic nose of dark cherry, black olives, tobacco, toasty oak, eucalyptus, roasted meat, milk chocolate. Taste: deep, rich, silky, creamy wine with dark plum, bitter coffee grounds, earth, licorice, new leather, graphite, dried herbs, pepper, and a medium plus finish. YUM! — 20 days ago
