A more leaner rendition of this varietal, but in a good way. Nose displays clean cinnamon and toast. Palate is broad and expansive, yet light on its feet. A kiss of vanilla pod and black fruits conclude an excellent presentation. This is an intellectual wine.

@Ron R brother…where do I begin! Paolo Bea is a hero of mine and his son Giampiero is now carrying the torch. There are others that are doing things in a somewhat similar fashion…but that should require further discussion.

Montefalco Rosso Sangiovese Blend 2019

Blend of primarily Sangiovese (70%) along with Sagrantino (15%) and Merlot (15%). Medium ruby color with purple highlights and a garnet rim. Aromas of black fruits, dark chocolate, violets, leather, forest floor and dried herbs. Black cherry, cassis, pomegranate flavors with additional hints of tobacco, black licorice and wet soil. Medium earthy/spicy finish and a grainy texture. Some grip and power but nicely balanced. Pleasant rustic quality. Solid value. — a day ago

San Valentino Sangiovese Blend

Let her open up a bit. Rustic and medium bodied, earthy, just like a Umbria wine should taste — 13 days ago
