Domaine Françoise André

Tue-Boeuf Chorey-Les-Beaune Pinot Noir 2016

Pretty delicate Burgundian bottle. Fine notes of fruit, combined with state-of-the-art aging, woody notes (pine nuts) and a musky touch. Nice balance. Fineness and drinkability.

Quille bourguignonne délicate. De jolies notes de fruits, associées à un élevage dans les règles de l’art, aux notes boisées (pignons de pin) et touche musquée. Bel équilibre. Finesse et buvabilité.

Bodegas Valdemar

Conde Valdemar Reserva Rioja Tempranillo 2012

Valdemar has opened a state of the art, beautiful winery in Walla Walla and is bringing in some of the wines they are making in Spain where the family has been operating for over a century in the Rioja region. This Tempranillo based wine had distinct American oak notes but was well integrated with the wine and gave it great body and depth. Notes of dark red cherry and fig came through on the mid palate turning into a dry finish with notes of cigar box, autumn forest. — 3 years ago

Domaine Harmand-Geoffroy

Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2003

After 16 years this bottle now is in a great spot. Still abundant in its fruit, some animality but really a state of the art Mazis. The wine does not show any sign of overripeness as 2003 was a very hot year - it still is vibrant as ever. What a pleasure to drink such a great Pinot Noir from a small producer which loves his job and where the son now has taken over. — 5 years ago

La Braccesca (Antinori)

Bramasole Cortona Syrah 2020

Final wine from our tasting at Antinori just outside Florence in their state of the art facility. All 3 wines matured in French or Hungarian Barriques. Initial barnyard aromas which blew off to reveal florals like lavender and peony. Oak is perfectly balanced and does not intrude in any of the 3 wines tasted. This district is not traditional for Syrah (only since 2000) but suits it perfectly - sandy soils. More savoury and meaty than fruit driven. — 8 months ago

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2003

The estate once belonged to the famous Lynch family, of Irish origin, acquired by Jean-Charles Cazes in 1934. His grandson, Jean-Michel Cazes restructured the estate in 1974, with state-of-the-art winemaking equipment. Primarily Cab Sauv, with Merlot, Cab Franc & Petit Verdot in the blend. Deep Ruby, complex nose, aged well, round berry fruit flavors, blackberry and plum with an oak character, elegant with soft tannins, a delicious wine ending with delicate fruit, oak and mineral notes. Great! — 3 years ago

Brasswood

Napa Valley Chardonnay 2017

9.1

If you aren’t familiar with Brasswood, you should change that. A truly state of the art custom crush facility in St Helena (has housed clients like Bevan Cellars, Moone Tsai, Montagu, Modus Operandi, Dark Matter, etc), with tasting rooms, caves, a shop, bakery and a fantastic restaurant. On top of all that, they have their own label, which Angelina Mondavi consults on.

This is my first time trying their Chardonnay offering, courtesy of Brasswood’s Somm
@Joshua Fisher . I was fortunate to follow this over the course of a few days. Day one had this showing very primary...down the middle type chard. Day two saw this increase in complexity...certainly true to Napa chard with a warm and soft profile, revealing lanolin, lemon cream, and even a cotton candy note on the nose. The palate has added notes of ripe melon, banana, and powdered sugar. Viscous but a line of acidity keeps this nervy. Thanks Josh.

Moussé Fils

'Special Club' Les Fortes de Terres Brut 2015

🏅Rating 92+/100 (4,25⭐)

Cédric Moussé is the fourth generation of his family to make champagne at Moussé Fils. He is young, energetic and innovative.

In 2012, Mousse completed construction of a new winery in Cuisles, designed to be as environmentally sustainable as possible. It is state of the tech art.

In 2005, Moussé joined the Club Trésors de Champagne, and began making a Spécial Club champagne in that vintage. It's the first 100-percent meunier champagne in the history of the Club.

Single vineyard Meunier comes from 4 plots in lieu-dit “Les Fortes Terres”.

Pale pink gold colour. Crushed almonds, raspberry and strawberry with splash of milk (full malo). Reductive winemaking puts emphasis on the purity of the fruit! 1g/l dosage is enough to balance. Broad-shouldered on the palate. Dry long finish. Spent over 3 years sur lee and disg. 10/2019

Solar 2015 vintage speaks from the glass. Overall that was a warm year which started with a mild and humid winter, followed by quite a dry spring and summer. Harvest started on the 9th of September.

This is one of Champagne's finest examples of pure meunier!
