Happy Thanksgiving!!

Overrated and overpriced. 1+hr decant, probably needed more. Very hot nose with plums. Massive tannins and hits the palate like a razor blade. Earthy with plums and prunes. Not my style. Medium depth and finish.

Very cool to try this vintage. The color has gone to a very rusty red amber and almost a brown rim. (bummer you can’t upload more than one photo) Olive and earth on the nose. Very savory V8 notes of tomato, tomato bisque , black pepper. The palate still has great acidity, very rounded,just a nice lingering finish and almost feels high in heat even though this sits at 12.5% — 5 years ago

Wowie. Dark, ripe, dry tannins, deep red fruits and iron. Showing some secondary aromas and flavors (espresso, rusty metal and earth) but tons of fruit to boot. This is in a great place but will keep evolving beautifully for years I suspect — 6 years ago

On the palate: slightly flint, high acidity, apricots, lemon curd, yellow bouquet floral note, silky texture with smooth coating in the mouth. Say 12.5 % abv on the label but feel more in the mouth. Lovely purity of berry compote along with an underlying ferrous, rusty nail type iron mineral character. With time in the glass there’s also some very attractive almond paste or pie crust notes, dried cranberry and yoghurt covered raisins.
In the mouth it’s incredibly approachable with fine grained tannins that are very well interpreted into the red currant and cranberry fruit. It’s refreshing, approachable and very food friendly as the acidity seems to be perfectly ripe in this vintage. Don’t think I’ve tasted a better vintage of this in the past 5 years or so. As with most Italians, food will elevate this. 👌🏽 — 6 years ago

Incredible wine...still holding on to some grippy tannins yet has a beautiful roundness and supple feel. Tasted like a classic Bordeaux style with some aspects of metallic, rusty nail and bloody. — 6 years ago
