I love Spanish wines and this didn’t disappoint. Dark fruits, mocha, pepper - moderate tannins. Sipping tonight, next time with a grilled cheeseburger (with smoked Gouda). — 8 days ago
“Ojo Gallo’, Castellano for ‘rooster eye’ (in other words, what the French call ‘oeil de perdrix’), hearkens back to the traditional clarete style of the region. This dark rosé (light red?) is a field blend of very old vines of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Bobal, Monastrell, Viura, Albillo and Malvasia co-fermented in cement and raised for 8 months in used barrels before bottling without added sulfur” — 14 days ago
Nose: very aromatic. Intense dark fruit (almost over ripe) and hints of jam. Hints of some sort of spice come through as well. Alcohol on nose (14.5%) Palate: less interesting palate unfortunately. Muted fruitiness and light minerality with slight earth. — 10 days ago
2020 on Easter 4/17/2022 before lamb, per good recommendation at Grand Cata. Excellent, as promised. Citrus, white peach, vanilla, tarragon. — a month ago
Here’s a Godello wine hailing from Bierzo, Spain.
After letting this beauty breathe, open, and warm up a bit - wow - it offers layered notes of baked apple, pear tart, quince, cantaloupe, lemon peel, chamomile, honeysuckle, crushed stone, sweet cream, creme brûlée, salted caramel, and brioche.
This wine is medium gold, dry and has medium acidity, medium alcohol, and a medium finish. It’s balanced and complex.

Fruity blossomy fragrances as it's full flavor touches your tongue! The balance in acidity is a welcome to that a tempranillo should always be...superbly just a very refreshing finish with taste I can only compare it as a continuous dark chocolate dark cherry cordell from start to finish with the fruit down the center of the palate and the dark chocolate around it in a continuity that's just plain delicious! — 6 days ago
This is a good bottle that packs it’s weight into a very affordable price. Complex and lingering - it goes a long way. Medium body with bright acids, tasteful concentrated blackberry, and a touch of pepper. Great with this country fried steak. — 10 days ago
